RE: Louisville officer involved in fatal crash suspended
Yes we (the Police) have to "use" Due Regard.
That applies when responding to something, ie: entering intersections, you have the authority to do it but you must show due regard to the Public while doing so.
When you are simply driving down the road in matters unrelated to Police business it is simple speeding.

RE: Louisville officer involved in fatal crash suspended
The girl getting killed was tragic, but yes u do have to exercise due regard. Adam's didn't. The girl was drunk, meaning.......she was at fault. The whole situation is sad for all parties involved. But although the girl was drunk, and made a fatal mistake, she was still someone's daughter, sister, friend etc. Adam's whole stance on this issue has been very narcissistic and the typical "I'm a cop, I can do what I want." The problem in today's society is is that SOME, not all, police officers think that they are above the law and that rules don't apply to them. Police officers are looked up to by our youth and I understand that sometimes things aren't always what they seem, but I've read the posts on this website that pretty much show no compassion to the situation in general, not so much to a young lady who made a bad decision, and now her family has to live the rest of their lives' without their loved one. I would almost bet any amount of money that more than half of the police officers on this website, have driven with some amount of alcohol in their system, and were just lucky that they didn't have an accident.
