I agree with the earlier post, they do need more training to be in a specialty unit, we all take our 40 hour in-service class every year, WE get to take what we want, but if you take a class in homicide 3-5 years ago and you decide to be a homicide detective tomorrow is that sufficient? NO..... if you are not doing that stuff every day my friend you forget! I was gone on Vacation time for 22 days, and when i came back i forgot my passwords, and alot about Ileads, WE forget things, any type of specialty unit needs to be fresh on your mind the day you start that position, so i do agree with the earlier post. Who knows if a District Detective position will be open tomorrow I may just wake up and decide "hey" I wanna be a Detective today! Im sure with all the lawsuits on this mess they will have more training, and there needs to be.
