I don't mean arrogance or that any cop is better than the other. But I stand by my opinion that there are different roles and positions within a PD and they are very different. Some guys like the action of SWAT training, but other guys like investigating, or community relations. Some cops always wanted to work in CACU, others would never want to touch their cases. It isn't about one being better than the other. Cops can be different and express being different without it being arrogance OR ignorance. Sorry you took the post personally. I still don't see how you can disagree that different personalities are interested in different facets of police work.

You acknowledge they are all tied together and that was my point. Yes it is a team but each cop has a different role on that team. There are pitchers, Hitters, runners, guards, offensive, defensive, quarterbacks, etc. If we were all the same, there would be no such thing as specialized units and police work would make for a pretty boring career for many people. Did I ever insinuate beat cops are lesser than? I didn't, nor would I ever, insult the rank & file. My point is, we are all interested in different things and not just one and the same like the other post implied.

BEAT OFFICERS ARE THE BACKBONE!! AND NO MATTER WHAT WE DO NOW, WHETHER ITS FLEX, DISTRICT DET, OR HOMICIDE, WE ALL STARTED ON THE BEAT! I HAVE BEEN DOWN IN THE HOOD SINCE I STARTED, AND I WAS ONE OF THE GUYS WHO USE TO THINK THAT WE WERE THE ONLY ONES THAT WERE THE REAL POLICE, THATS BULL!!! THE WAY I SEE IT NOW, THOSE GUYS NOT IN THE HOOD, GOT IT FIGURED OUT, THEY MAKE THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY AND ACTUALLY POLICE WHERE PEOPLE PAY TAXES AND APPRECIATE THEM!! ONE FINAL THING, THERE IS GOOD BEAT GUYS AND GIRLS, AND THERE IS GOOD GUYS AND GIRLS IN SPECIALIZED UNITS, BUT ALL OF US HAVE BAD ONES, ITS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST, BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS!!
