There is a reason the State Police stay out of elections.....but there is also a reason they are highly respected.....I know 10 LMPD officers, but would only be happy to have 7 or 8 as a road troop. Respect is never given, but some officers believe once they put on that uniform, they are entitled to respect. I feel for the good officers in LMPD, you work hard, unselfish, and dedicated. But when I lived in Louisville, I saw officers disrespect people for no reason, and you will never have the upper hand with that attitude. I wish the best for you officers, but remember, service above self, I feel like that is a lost trait with many officers, including some road troops. I also know it's hard to deal with the media in Louisville, but that is something you have to deal with. I say this with all due respect, quit crying, deal with whatever is in front of you and you will find respect will slowly be given. AND START WEARING UNIFORMS, that BDU, polo shirt, and shorts wearing has to end.

Im a trooper aka "Grey God". I use to work for the old city and bailed out prior to the merger. So having working with both agencies I can tell you both have +/-'s. The city paid better. The city usually had better tools to handle homicides and drug suppression ie special units. However, the brotherhood seems much tighter in the (2) posts I worked at for KSP. Also I believe you become a more well rounded officer working for KSP.
