Wait..Wait..Wait! Is the CJ saying that a democratic attorney general may have gotten a democratic prosecutor to not prosecute his democratic brother who worked for the democratic prosecutor because he was being investigated (but the file is sitting in a safe right now) by the democratic police chief who was appointed by a democratic mayor who is endorsing the democratic attorney general for a new office????????????????

And for my brother officers, (if your statements are true and you tipped off a dope dealer whose crap may have made it to the streets in the hands of kids)..........................may you rot!

OK so the story is that Jack's only involvement was to tell his brother, you know the one that went to law school and is a criminal prosecutor, to seek legal counsel. Whew! Glad to see he listened to his brother THE ATTORNEY GENERAL about getting legal advise!

What do you call a stupid SOB who graduates last is his class at law school................................AN ATTORNEY!

Wow what a sad day for LMPD and the Commonwealth's Attorney Office. If this story is true, shame on those detectives that tipped off the prosecutor. It makes you all look bad, when i know most cops do good. I sure hope things get cleaned up in both office's..............One will only hope!!!!!!

Maybe now they will do a story on way Greg Fischers son, who was charged with possession of marajauna, got off scott free while the young African American gentleman who was with him and charged with the same is being prosecuted.

I wish I was a rich democrat and my dad or brother was looking out for me.

Ya'll need to quiet down on all this democrat / attorney talk. We all know that both: being and attorney, and Liberalism are a sickness of the feeble minded. If you keep being noisy about it, the CDC will lable them as diseases and we'll be paying these twits disability checks on top of letting 'em walk on the taxes they cheated on for the last 5 yrs!!!

baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacks

Ron Russ and Scott Wilson should NOT be fired for this. Yes, their conduct was unbecoming, but I don't think there was any corruption or evil intent on their part. In other words, they were not trying to assist Conway in some drug enterprise that they themselves were part off. Should they be transferred to a unit with less sensitive cases? Probably. Should they receive suspension days for their behavior? Yes. But should they lose their entire career over this when no one's safety was jeopardize? That would be too harsh in my humble opinion. One last point, please stop using every officer violation as an example of how bad LMPD is and how incompetent Chief White is. Some are politicizing each issue to make a point. With a department this size there are going to be personnel issues and there is going to be media scrutiny. It does NOT mean the department is corrupt and the Chief is not dealing with it. Officers should not be fired unless their actions are extremely egregious.

i am guessing that col white may fire atleast one of these guys since the open records for the of history discipline and punishment was just sent in by ms haladay. he will have something to prove... but since the weren't on felony diversion, lie about felonies, screwed prostitutes etc, it will be hard pressed for him to not to have to give their jobs back. after all he has set a standard. a low one

I do not understand why guys still want to roll the dice and lie to PSU or PIU. Those guys aren't going to cover for your lies because they're not your friend. The most minor lie will compromise your integrity for the rest of your career. People usually forget about the good stuff you do but they never forget your mistakes. There's an old school saying that goes, "Never lie just justify." Some people need to start living by it.

Why was narcotics investigating this complaint in the first place? If matt conway worked as a prosecuter doesn't that make him a city employee and ALL criminal invesitagations of city workers are handled by PIU. Oh well it turned into a PIU investigation anyway......

we are our own problem

October 25th, 2010 @ 11:34AM (13 years ago)

Now before anyone jumps on me I am guilty of this also.

In reading all of the postings on this subject and the others I have come to notice that we are our worst problem. We can blame alot on the chief and his command staff as well as the different SOPs that come down each week. BUT once we look at everything we need to take some ownership in the way we feel about eachother as well as ourselves. Each time there is a problem within our department we are the first to jump and start to cruicify one another. It does not matter if it is a problem with disipline, promotions or who is working and who is off on SD or other time off. We kill ourselves over all these subjects and always see the negative. Once again I am guilty of this at times myself.

We can continue to blame everyone in the chief's office for the problems (and yes they are part of it) but sooner or late we need to take responsibility for our own feelings. We can continue to see everything as negative and try to get a more positive outlook on our department. I was told a long time ago that it really does not matter who is chief as we (the rank and file) will be here longer then they will be. We are all hoping for a change with a new mayor and we need it, but what happens if it does not come? Are our lives going to be that much differnet from what they are now? This is only a job. MY life is at home with my family. We do not need to be identified by what we do but by who we are. Guys, do your time weather it is 20 yrs or more. Enjoy your life and don't let this place get you to see negative all the time. Officers will make mistakes and do stupid things but we need to stop attacking eachother over these things. They will get what punishment they get from the department and already from the public.

Off my soapbox now. Take care of yourselves, eachother and your families.

For people to believe everything that is published in the Courier Journal is INSANE. Until you have reviewed all the testimony from both the PSU and PIU investigations then you can feel free to judge . Wilson never once lied to either unit as reported by the CJ. He never knew Matt Conway except for him being a prosecutor and it was just by chance that they both went to the same high school together. My question about all this is what was the preliminary complaint ? Was the information from a credible source or was it phoned in to the tip line. A person out for revenge can call in to the tip line and tell anything with out being known. LMPD narcotics Detectives have to follow up on the complaint and file a report on their findings. A lot of wasted man hours trying to confirm a complaint with out being able to ask questions to the complainant to verify the info....not one bit of the info is true but now an investigation will be launched and unfortuantally their is no way to contact me because I did this with out disclosing any info about my self. How many of these tips does the department receive daily? Did the CJ report that Mr. Conway had recently came home and found his wife in bed with another man ? Did they report that that the person that he caught in bed with his wife had a criminal history of drug use ?

So quit hiding behind your nicknames and post your real names.

Posted by: Dear Chief White,

Dear Chief White,

I don't know if you are reading this and I hope you are. I have never met you in person, but as a member of LMPD I know you use the phrase, "Stay the course" sometimes. You have been the subject of a lot of criticism and I think most, if not all, of it is unfounded. Please don't let these haters sway how you have been doing things. It is not that bad. There are some who say you administer discipline in an unbalanced way, but when they are challenged to provide examples, I hear crickets. No two cases are ever the same. When it comes to disciplining any officer, please don't let these bs mumblings factor into your decision. Besides, if you were not fair and you were biased, where are the lawsuits? Some folks have a hard time digesting the fact that a person of your type could be in charge of this Department. They are always going to be suspect of your motives, because they believe you will practice what they know has benefitted them when the roles where reversed.

It is psychology but you have to "get it" to understand. It is a fear ingrained in the minds of those who feel they are superior. Hint: We will take care of our own so therefore he must be inclined to take care of his own.
