Investigation sought into mayoral endorsement

October 20th, 2010 @ 7:20PM (13 years ago)

Even if the whole mess was legal, why do we need another office of ANYTHING? Brownfields/Greenfields can best be served by economic incentives and a concentrated focus by economic development, not a separate office that is nothing but a place to park some folks to keep them happy. Neither of these folks have apparently actually read the law, that's why you have a campaign manager from the state that actually knows what they are doing. Fischer might win, but the city will be in anarchy being ruled over by someone who brags about never having attended a council meeting and who obviously has no idea how the Metro Government in structured. And you can't really seek meaningful changes until you know how it works now.

Imagine what would happen if we had a snowstorm the middle of January? We do not need a Mayor who will need OJT.

What is going on?

I have heard that a 25 year veteran officer, who is on light duty was searched by a sergeant not one but two days in a row to see if he had his side arm. Is that crazy or what? When female officers are on light duty due to maternity leave they are allowed to continue to carry a side arm. I was told that this officers' Major had him out following up Metro calls in an unmarked car. He was doing official work so he is required to carry a side arm! What in the world was this sergeant thinking? Does this department's command want officers in the field unarmed? Could someone please tell me what has LMPD come to? I can't wait to get out of this place.

An officer can be placed on light duty status after 10 days of not being able to perform full police functions, including make arrests, operate an emergency vehicle, or safely operate a weapon. Their powers are either suspended or limited in writing. As for as the Sergeant searching an officer on light duty, they should have realized the person they were searching was police-trained and had a weapon, thereby requiring them to call SWAT to conduct the search. Everyone misses that question on the test.

Seriously the Sgt couldn't ever put his hands on the officer without a warrant, but just ask to inspect their weapon if they have Limited police powers. Better go grab your momma or the Chief before you try grabbing me for no good reason.
