My thoughts exactly. I can remember when an officer would call off at a location, like 33rd and Northwestern, and everyone, including the dispatcher, knew they were getting something to eat and would try to avoid calling them for 20 minutes or so. Or, if you got a dispatch, and responded with that location, another officer would take the call. However, under Kentucky law, they don't have to give you a lunch break if they pay you for the time - which they do, I believe. (straight 8s) If they give you a true break, they don't have to pay you for it. I think they figure that because you are able to pretty much stop, etc., if you need to go to the bathroom, that regular breaks are necessarily required. Not an expert, though, I'd have to do some research to be sure.
