Former Metro Corrections employees sue again

June 10th, 2010 @ 2:06AM (14 years ago)

What's with these outsiders that Fat Head Jerry hires to come to Louisville to be department heads and "clean things up"? Seems like they create more problems.

Meloche at Metro Animal Services, this knucklehead at Corrections. Is our leader next, or is someone covering up serious problems with LMPD?

Is it true that this website is now blocked from Metro Government computers?

Councilman Heiner asked him about why police can't drop and go at the jail and why it take so long for us to get back on the beat. He gave really no answer and said "we will work on that". He tried to blame derby and task force, but Heiner told him to forget special events and answer question about day to day why cops sit 30 minutes or longer!

I know hundred's of officer's would make more arrest if they knew they were not going to have to sit at the jail for an hour eahh time....How many times do we hear "20 on the wall at the book".....It's crazy! No on wants to go to the jail when they know there is 20 prisoners waiting to go in that are in front of them!

Has anyone noticed there have been a lot more "10-30's" with off-duty corrections officers lately? When I'm off the last thing I want to do is get involved in something. Seems like there are some correction officers that keep biting off more than they can chew.

Dietz is a ******* too. He was constantly in some type of trouble. Wasn't he nearly fired for some other stuff a few years back? Not saying the leader isn't a total incompetent flunky fleeing down a fire escape. What a putz!!! ALL OF THEM!!!

Get past it.

Ok, I have been reading many of you bashing each other from the opposites sides of the grill.

It is BS, pure and simple. We each have a job to do, and most of us choose to do it well. Do I wish that the "new" correctional center worked the way it should, sure. But so do the officers that work there and get force over on shifts. Do I wish that I didn't have to wait in line for the BA tech, when I am trained to do it? Sure, but them is the breaks.

Do I wish that I didn't constantly check up on my bad guys with warrants, only to find that some officer just wrote a ticket to them, which just about guarantees that officer didn't run them, or ignored what the saw. Do I wish we did a better job of getting the intelligence information in from our officers, but every one is to "busy" to do a good FI with all possible info... Do I wish "detectives" would share information with others instead of hording intelligence, just to make sure their "numbers" look good...

See we can complain about a lot. But the sadi reality is that WE are all on a team, and our team is flat broken when we bicker like this.

Get past it!

With all the grief LMPD gets on this site and local media, why are the corrections guys so bent out of shape when we complain about policy problems in the jail that directly affects LMPD Officers and needs to be corrected...

Nothing personal guys!

Law enforcement is easy compared to this job. Imagine how many reports, memos and forms these guys would have to fill out if the LMPD Colonels were Army Colonels instead. Countries always lose wars when politicians and their stooges-in-uniform run them.

To the POST about Dumb arrest LMPD makes... That show your lack of POLICE training or Riding the beat Jail guard! When you ride the beat and you make the same run on the same person time and time again... an arrest finally needs to be made so the problem stops for the night. An arrest could have been made on the first , second or even third run, but you try to give them a chance to straighten up so we dont have to arrest them for a dumb charges so we dont get tied up at booking or tie you up with a dumb arrest.

I also dont have a problem with probationary officer or ANY OFFICER who works and makes any type of arrest...You have to learn some how...They get practice in paperwork, runs, traffic stops, and the searching of prisoners that jail guards gripe about.

this is for BB, i used to work in the jail and it was broke then and is more broke now. im so glad im out of that place.

the life of a jail guard, take count, serve chow, run hot water, pass out razors, jump suits and take smoke breaks and truck your partner while you are on an 2 hour break. oh the jail sounds so scary. there are 2 types of people that work in the jail.

Why do we call it 'corrections' I arrest the same folks time and again. They are not getting 'corrected'! Can someone pls CORRECT these folks so i don't have to arrest them anymore? Laughing now. And we shouldn't be called 'police'. we should be called 'LIMITED' or 'LEASHED'. WE ARE COMING TO GET YOU !!!! (maybe) WE WILL ARREST YOU (if our S.O.P. allows). WE WILL CHASE YOU !!! (if we have a felony and some scared young sergeant doesn't call you off). Hell, at this point, if I were a dirt bag, I'd run too. What do you have to lose? There is a pretty good chance no one will be allowed to chase you, if you get caught - Jefferson County courts won't do crap, and if you do go to jail - you won't get CORRECTED. Anyone notice how many people on foot and in cars flee lately? Everyone knows this county has been neutered. I am starting to feel like mall security............................................observe and report only.

"White Awaiting Word On Atlanta Job"

June 18th, 2010 @ 11:36AM (14 years ago)

http://www.wfpl.org/2010/06/17/white-awaiting-word-on-atlanta-job/

Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White is still awaiting word on whether he'll be hired as the next chief of the Atlanta Police Department.

White is one of three finalists for the job. All of them took part in a town meeting in Atlanta two weeks ago as part of the application process.

"I had hoped to hear something this week. Hasn't happened as of yet. I just have to continue to be patient and see what happens," White said after addressing the Rotary Club of Louisville Thursday.

The two other candidates are Atlanta Interim Police Chief George Turner and U.S. Homeland Security official Cedric Alexander.

White says he doesn't want to leave Louisville, but his future here is uncertain because a new mayor will be elected in November. He was hired in 2003 by current Mayor Jerry Abramson, who's not seeking re-election.

White says he has spoken recently with the two major party mayoral candidates, Democrat Greg Fischer and Republican Hal Heiner.

"My conversation with Greg Fischer was specific about what happens if he becomes the mayor as it relates to me being police chief and he's expressed a great interest in having me stay, and I would certainly be interested in that," White said. "My conversation with Councilman Heiner was about crime in general, but we didn't touch on who he wants as a chief or my future."

White says if he doesn't get the Atlanta job, he won't entertain any other opportunities until after the November general election.

SO how are Corrections Officers allowed to have emergency lights in their personal cars?
