Obviously he is a citizen or he would not be able to be certified as a police officer by the state.

Good story Dale. Hope no one tries to give you crap over this. If They do it is probably jealousy. From what I can tell you have done a good job here.

You have 3 babies now, one which was just born and a beautiful young wife...do you realize that you're never going to see your family now? If you're lucky you'll get on late watch; you will have no weekends or holidays off, the platoons are short handed, so you're not going to be able to take a v-day for birthdays, anniversaries, etc...

Man, I hope you know what you're putting your family through by taking this job!

Oh yeah- just remember not to be late for court!!

Welcome to a profession that will require you to be social worker, lawyer, counselor, teacher, parent and anything else the citizenry cares to dump on us via their elected officials. Your every action will be on camera, under a microscope and will be critiqued by folks who have no idea about what this job requires. Your family and friends will laugh at your stories, and will cringe at your mood swings.

Be sure to find others you trust to empty any built emotions you have from each day at work, so you dont bring them in the front door of your house.

Again, welcome aboard brother. Welcome to all of our new officers

And don't be an a**-kissing politician-in-uniform or an apologist for an incompetent administration like a few officers are.

I want to know who is the rather uninformed United States Citizen that would first question "Outback Jack" citizenship, because in all honesty if that was your fisrt thought then in my opinion, you obviously have some issues. Second, as a person who has attended "The Oath of Citizenship" Ceremony for friends who are serving our country in the Armed Forces. One is with the 101st Airborne currently serving in Afghanistan, he was taking the oath after his second tour. Now after attending these events, I must say it has gave me a new found respect for what most of us have take granted and I actually took time to read the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. It is one thing to stand up and speak out when you actually see injustice, it is another thing completely when one words are all their personal agenda. I am neither conservative nor liberal. I have beliefs on both sides. So to me it is simple, when you swear an oath to serve and protect others , and all you do is whine how hard your job is or how the system is broken, how we need to bypass certain laws and rights so the job will be easier, than you are in the wrong line of work. I used to have that mentality.

It is simple our job is to try and prevent and if not able to to investigate thoroughly, gather the evidence properly, apprehend the parties involved, present our case to the D.A's and then to make sure we show up to court so that we are able present, explain, and defend our evidence to a jury. After that it is out of our hands. If the D.A's refuse to prosecute the case, it is out of our hands. Finally, after seeing various individuals freed from prison after evidence has been found later that proved their innocence, or there was gross misconduct or serious procedural errors that took away that persons freedom all because of the interest to "Close the Case". make headlines, re-election, etc. It should give us pause and makes us want to rededicate ourselves to our chosen profession. No one forced us take the badge and swear the oath, we chose to. So please keep that in mind, we made the choice and if you are no longer happy with that choice, then it is time for you to pursue another career.

Oh and congratualtion Recruit Vadim Dale, welcome to one of the best jobs.

Here is something that really pisses me off. Here is a man, who not unlike many before him and that will come after, is trying to better himself and his family. He is doing something that a lot of us wanted to do and have done, become a Police Officer. We all became one for one reason or the other, but we did it none the less. Did we expect the department to go south like it has, no. I hate the way things are ran, and I do keep my head down and watch what I do. However, if we allow the morons who run this place to stop us from being what we either dreamed of being as kids, or just fell into, then it's YOU who are at fault. Each individual is responsible for him/herself and their actions. If you want to be a cry baby and not work then do it, but make sure you look in the mirror when you start to blame someone. Don't try to ruine someone else's desire to attempt to make a difference because you are unhappy. Try being an adult and congradulate him on his achievments and allow the man to make his own decision about this place. (Jack) Vadim is a great man, who is kind hearted and highly motivated. I think it's very impressive that he gave up a life that could have been a great deal different to join our ranks. I look forward to the chance to work with him and hope he doesn't allow this place to get him too down about the job. When it comes down to it, we are all here to do just that, the job.

I'm confused

Let me preface this by saying that a, I am pro-law enforcement and b, I don't drive a semi-truck and c, I have family on LMPD and Louisville Fire and am well aware of the obstacles you guys are facing.

However, I wonder if some of you are aware how bad you are making yourselves and ALL of your co-workers look in this thread. Yes, the police chief and mayor have caused great hardship and downfall to this city and department. Yes, things suck tremendously and there has been non-stop BS since merger in '03. But is your sole interest after reading this article just to b**** about your job and the fact that this guy wants to be your co-worker? I know there are more good cops than bad in our city. I know there are more cops grateful for their jobs than there are ones that want to do nothing but complain all day everyday. I'm not saying things don't need to change. They do. BADLY! But, even on your worst day, you are still employed. Still have health benefits. Can still feed and house your families. This is not the case for many people out there. I'm NOT saying "I pay your salary" or "be grateful for the sh-t being fed to you"... not at all. But gratitude just simply for being able to earn a paycheck isn't hard to express. There's so much nastiness about this article and I'm just a little confused by it. You hate people that want to be cops now too? Who DO you guys like? Are any of you ever happy? I'm asking serious questions, not instigating or being a smarta$$. Because if this many of you are this drastically miserable, I don't know that any level of change and improvement in city gov't could really fix it.

Gentlemen and ladies,

Remember every thing you post on here is view by the public. Your professionalism is what keeps you and I from getting into trouble, no the policy of the department. Knowing right from wrong is what is important. Being knowledgeable of the edge we often have top patrol into the gray area of the world is one of the primary skills of any patrol officer (such as when to issue a ticket, or warning; even if the law says we can issue the ticket)

When we post inarticulate arguments we appear to be inept, uneducated and incompetent. Which we are not. Just be articulate in that which you place on paper/screen.

Oh yeah, Chief White is in Atlanta right now for a town hall meeting - WFPL just reported it.

Great Luck Colonel... I hope, statistically speaking, that you take most of your command staff with you. I am only fearful to find which of the bumbling sycophants the mayor would try to appoint for the remainder of his term. Can you imagine Buckner as Chief? Holy crud that man drank the punch bowl let alone the first glass of kool-aid. Or worse yet, Gentry, who is allegedly helping a felon keep his job (way to Yvette, you have dashed a decade of respect and hard work for one moron).

Okay, this may sound a bit crazy but although I am very pleased that Vadim Dale has acclimated himself to the US, has married and is now a father, this man is stunningly beautiful, seemingly inside and out. I watched the entire Outback Jack series and loved it every week. I also saw the show in which he got married to Natalie (I was rooting for her to win his heart). I just wished he had done something in the entertainment business instead of being a cop in rural Kentucky. Not bashing Kentucky in any way but I really had hoped we would be seeing much more of him in movies and other TV shows. I am happy for him. I hope and imagine that he is happy. I think that he and Natalie make a really beautiful couple. I just wished he, even occasionally did some TV shows and movies. Oh well.

I'm happy to see that the two of you are still together. I'm sorry that you thought the USA was a better place to live than your own country. I would rather be in Austrailia than here. You have a strong leadership in your country and all we have here is money hungry twits that dont give a damn about the american public any more. To bad.
