I cannot agree with Jim King's statement that we need to bring back the Street Crimes Unit. After all just because crime has risen every year since merger except for the past 6 months when the task force was extended twice doesn't mean anything. It means absolutely nothing that there is a unit working the highest crime and drug areas and taking guns and dope off the street. After all White's policies have worked out so well thus far.

I wonder if there was some type of connection between the task force (don't call it the new street crimes unit because that is not PC) and the fact that some of these types of crime have gone down. Hmmmmmmmm....

RCW is on his way out but more importantly so is hiw stupid pholosophies. Let's move PIU down to the west end to make it easier for the thugs mommas to complain. Don't worry about anyone else in the rest of the community that may have a complaint whether it is legit or not... who wants to risk their lives going down there?

King is definately "In Bed" with King Jerry. Don't fall for it. What better way to muster up support than to trash the current Chief in front of the troops. These guys are not stupid, only us if we fall for another crook running government.

Funny thing is you all think we actually have a choice in this matter. Everything is specualtion at this point and moreso it is fanciful at best. We have a Derby field of candidates running in the primary. SOme candidates have not even announced yet.

There are a few things we need to do first. One, th CJ and the powers that be are trashing King. You must first ask yourselves why? Why has the Communist Journal come out against a Democrat Candidate so vehemently? Ans. Becasue they want their own puppet in there. David Tandy. Talk about your booger eating moron.

I am wary of King myself but I know what Tandy is. We need to look at the big picture and 1st winnow down the field to manageable proportions. I urge everyone to look at EVERY candidate. SOme we won't have to worry about but there are a few out there that can get the votes. What we really need to do is elect an independent council that is not controlled by the mayor and that does not vote straight party ticket.

I do not know Tandy, but King lacks the moral turpitude to lead our city.

The FOP should gather information and publish fact sheets about every candidate's views and qualifications. It can't have a political slant though. Just a straighforward set of facts and quotes about every candidate, along with a rating of A, B, C, D or F for their stances on law enforcement. Let the public know which candidates are soft on criminals or don't know the first thing about how to run a police department.

Our City and our department are at a crossroads. We are 5 months away from the primary and 1 month away from the deadline for filing for mayor. Once this is done we as a FOP and a Department need to look at the most viable candidate that can help us... the police. By helping us the whole community gains by it. Please don't misconstrue what I am saying when I simplify ALL of public safety by simply stating "Police" Corrections, Fire, EMS, MetroSafe etc... all play a vital role in this and we need a candidate that will support all of our agencies.

#1 whether you like Jim King or not he is the most viable candidate for mayor.

#2 We need to persuade him that if he wants our complete support that he has to help us. We are a special interest group no doubt, but one that is a hell of a lot more important than any other special interest group because we are responsoble for the safety of the community. That means he needs to get off the fence and get rid of White and his haphazzard policies that have proven fruitless for years.

#3 This also means that he needs to locate a Chief of Police form this Department that is respected by the troops and the community. The idea that bringing in an outsider to manage agencies in Metro Government is an Abramson folly that has backfired time and time again.

I am all for helping the homeless baby seals that are getting poor grades in school, but the safety of our community comes before everything else. Yes I have a vested interest in this not only as a resident and homeowner in the Metro Area but as a Police Officer.

I think we need more officers on the street. I think we need to better allocate the resources we have. I think that the time for coddling criminals and appealing to every douchebag that wants to whine about why he got a ticket or why her baby was arrested needs to end.

This all boils down to getting a Mayor in office that will work hand in hand with the police, pay them a decent wage and respect them. Officers our leaving at an alarming rate and I cannot blame them. Why should they continue work for Metro when most of the other agencies pay more and support their Officers?

Thoughts: With the caveat emptor that my thoughts and opinions are no better or worse than everyone elses, and like an arse holes, we all have one...

First: Regardless of the political spin, we as an FOP need to choose the candidate(s) that WE will support, and we need to stay politically neutral until that decision is made.

Second: We, as an FOP, need to build our case and desire for our next contract.

Regardless of the next mayor, we need to have a solid FOP.

I'm disappointed that Mr. King choise David James to head his law enforcement advisory committee. Street Crimes was a hot topic for former city officers and the few friends that James has on the department. We have moved past the old days.

David James is only in it for himself. Mr. King should find some one else. Some one who isn't just in it for himself, but who truely wants to make Louisville and LMPD the best.

hey folks, I like davd james, nice guy, I dont really trust him, but just remember, it was under his presidency that the fop endorsed mayor big head, even after we had a vote at the lodge NOT to endorse him, and then something funny happened, a revote was taken without the members knowing and "whamo" we ended up endorsing him ( I thougt that was ilegal under the by-laws ). His explanation ? " He's gonna win anyway so why **** him off".... and King tried to throw us under the bus on the take home car issue, but now D.J. is standing by his side and everyone thinks that King has " seen the light" ??? NO NO NO. If these clowns want our endorsement make him come to the lodge, and put him on the spot, Make him answer questins on where he stands. Oh and by the way, make it an open mike for everybody, NO pre-made questions and selected persons to ask them, and if he refuses then you already know where he stands......AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH
