A big win for the Firefighters?

I believe it had more to do with someone not willing to play ball.

The police, corrections, fire, EMS, garbagemen, and every other employee in the city should join together in one union who could help organize the non-union city employees too. The FOP could remain as a social organization. A single union with different bargaining units could take a united stand against the administration when necessary. If one group gets the shaft, everyone can take to the picket line and go to the Metro Council meetings to raise their grievances directly. The new or otherwise timid officers who are afraid of getting on the administration's bad side in the midst of a contract dispute could be replaced on a picket line by garbagemen and firemen who do not fear the wrath of Bob.
