IUS hires Louisville's Edelen as police chief

August 14th, 2009 @ 11:57PM (15 years ago)

GENE WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT CHIEF TO THE UNIVERSITY WITH HIS EXPERIENCE AS A GREAT LEADER AND POLICEMAN. IM GLAD TO SEE EDELEN LEAVE BECAUSE I DONT THINK HES BEEN A "REAL POLICEMAN" SITTING IN AN OFFICE SENDING OUT EMAIL AFTER EMAILS.

Charlie is a very good guy. Maybe all you have seen of him is since h has been a CO, but I have worked as a Beat Cop and as a Detective with him and he earned everything he has gotten. He isn't an Office Bunny like some I could mention. IUS is lucky to get him. It is definitely LMPD's loss. Good luck Charlie!

Good luck to him. After 21 years of service, ANY officer deserves to retire/move on/move up. While I agree with most criticizm of the Mayor and the Police Chief, there are some people that take the negative attitude waaay to far.

Too many people on this site whine about their C.O.'s forgetting where they came from. Remember that in 10 years when you are "Old Dude who was never a real beat cop like me" giving the orders from behind your desk in the division or HQ.

Those complaints are never going to go away as long as you have older experienced C.O.'s giving orders to 22 year old hotdogs fresh from the academy who think they are the "King of Dixie" or the "West End" or where the f**k ever. Enough of this City vs County B.S.

THE MAYOR IS THE ENEMY, not your brother officers, not your C.O.'s, not the FOP leadership. No wonder we get screwed over so much, when we can't even support each other.

Thanks and have a good day.

Please Dont bash other officers. I do not know charlie but for a few hellos but I do know his wife and family. He is a good guy. Dont throw stones. If you want to bash someone take a look in the mirror first. Congrats charlie. I think that is exciting news. Rem . people that those you bash on here do have families. So if you cant say something nice about someone then maybe you shouldnt speak at all!!!!!!

Recently it was announced that Lt. Edelen of LMPD was hired to become chief of police at IUS. We, at Chicken Run Police Department, would like to extend our congratulations to Lt. Edelen on the successful completion of his time serving the city of Louisville. Lt. Edelen put in 21 good years, never slacking or shying away from his job. As far as we can tell, he will not be taking more vacation hours than he is allowed by city policy, despite what others have recently done. He is much deserving of this new job, and every department needs more men like him.

As for my current campaign for mayor, I will have another announcement coming in the near future concerning a stimulus package. I believe this stimulus is going to work wonders in our city, especially for you and your beat. It is aimed at the current uprising of domestic violence that I believe is a direct result of involved parties being unable to afford living apart. This stimulus package is an original idea, courtesy of Deputy Darrell. Stay tuned for more details, you won't want to miss it.

Remember, a vote for Darrell is a vote for you.

Saving Chicken Run one lieutenant at a time,

Deputy Darrell

If we wanna whine, get rid of Krapthorpe. UK S#$%KS!

Dear Friends,

As my mayoral campaign prepares to win over this city with incredible amounts of common sense and wisdom, it is with great excitement that I announce the first of many "stimuli." These "stimuli" will take our city from a status of Detroit-like to being "the city that finally is." For years, our city's front offices have needed a serious bowel movement, a deep cleansing if you will. In the coming days, I will offer my plans for doing that. Today, however, I would like to reveal what I believe to be the most incredible campaign idea yet to come out of the Save Chicken Run Foundation.

In the last year, we have been inundated with unwanted stimulus packages and various monies being given to those who were the most down-trodden. People without jobs have seen their unemployment benefits extended. Those who previously inked their name to a less than desired mortgage have been given relief. The banking industry, the auto industry, and perhaps the health insurance industry have lost their entrepreneurship to the federal government. Now, I would like to rise above all of that by reaching out to the common, ordinary citizen.

With joy flooding my heart, and a grin slapped on my face, I, Deputy Darrell, mayoral candidate from the Save Chicken Run Foundation, present you with

CASH FOR BABY-MOMMAS

With domestic violence runs up over 100% from this time last year, our sworn officers are inundated with stories of "if only my baby momma this" or "if only my baby momma that." We have all heard the arguing, seen things being thrown, and watched as the finest pull up in front of our neighbors house. We have all been witness to hard working fathers being dragged our of their houses in handcuffs, while attempting to explain that it all happened because their baby-momma wouldn't leave them alone. Perhaps, you too, have a baby-momma that has been a thorn in your side. I must insert here that all of this also applies to baby-daddy.

Our family courts have been inundated with EPO requests, while our criminal courts have been overtaken by assault IV domestics. But what is causing all of this. Regretfully, this is a side effect of the current economy. As cash dwindles and wic cards run dry, your neighbors realize they can't afford to live separately. They must try to work things out, because who can afford a divorce or separation right now. Henceforth, we have an increase in domestic violence.

Now, what can be done about this and what am I proposing??? Effective on my first day in office, drop-off locations will be open 12 hours a day, including weekends. We may also have a curbside pickup option. This will be for anyone who has been experiencing or foresees domestic violence in their household. The primary bread-winner can trade in their current baby-momma/baby-daddy for a newer model. Perhaps, even one that also works. Cash values for the trade-in have yet to be determined. Stay tuned for more developments in CASH FOR BABY-MOMMAS

Once again, a vote for Darrell is a vote for you.

The city wants to replace Sheppard Square with mixed income housing, that means all of the people in the community that work hard to live in decent neighborhoods to raise their kids in can look forward to living next to some dope dealing scumbag the was moved out of Shep. Sq. Thanks Section Eight and all the liberal minded policies that screw up decent communities and neighborhoods. It doesn't pay to work hard when you're gonna wind up living in the same neighborhood as sub-human life forms anyway.

Good riddens! I don't care if he rode the west end 20 years ago. So did I and hundreds after him. Once he became a Lt. He was a lap dog. Ask any officer that got a parking ticket DURING their work day with the official business sign displayed. (I'm not talking about parking in front of a fire hydrant or hadicap spot.) I am talking about something that in his opinion did not meet the narrow spectrum of "official business". Charlie was the contact person for that. Open your wallet.

Guess what good ole' Carlie did if errors were made on your ileads report. Would he send you an email or call you? Nope...he sent an email to Lt. Col. Robison, to your major, your Lt., and your Sgt. Then your Sgt. would contact you. When I found that out, I was really fired up. Why envolve Robison or my major? Just call me. We are adults. He was a lap dog. good bye!

I have known Charlie for almost 18 years and had the honor of having him as my beat partner. I was new when I met him and he went out of his way to not only help me learn a few things but covered my a** on more than one occasion.

I have patrolled in numerous districts and worked with hundreds of different officers and consider Charlie as one of the better ones around. For those that continue to gripe and ***** about what people do when they become a commanding officer, try it for yourself if you have the willpower and discipline to take the test. I have had many bosses over the years and Charlie has always been fair, even in the decisions I didn't like.

I add my congratulations to him on his new career and hope him the best. Thanks for your 21 years of service to this community. DG

Good Luck Charlie

YEAH I'M DOING THIS AGAIN BECAUSE IT P*SSES ME OFF WHEN I HEAR OTHER FELLOW OFFICERS SAY "I'M THE REAL POLICE!" THAT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL YOUR BROTHERS ALL OVER THE U.S WHO HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY NO MATTER WHAT AREA THEY PATROL? YOU ARE THE REAL POLICE HUH?? YOUR IN LOUISVILLE BRO! GO TO A REAL CITY IF YOU WANT TO BE THE REAL POLICE THEN?CAUSE THAT'S PROBABLY WHAT THEY ARE SAYING TO YOU. WHILE YOU TRY TO WALK ALL BIG AND BAD...THEY LOOK AT YOU LIKE A JOKE. I'M SATISFIED WITH MY D*CK. I DO NOT NEED A BADGE TO FEEL MORE IMPORTANT OR NEEDED. YOU GOT SOME INSECURITIES IF YOU NEED TO SAY I'M THE REAL POLICE TO FEEL IMPORTANT. AGAIN, I PATROL IN A "CITY" DIVISON BUT MY BACK UP IS 2 STREETS OVER. GO OUT TO THE COUNTY WHERE YOUR BACK UP IS 20 MINUTES AWAY AND THE HOSPITALS ARE FAR TOO. UNTIL THEN YOU KEEP YOUR HOMOCIDE SCENE UNDER CONTROL...STAND BY THE TAPE...AND WRITE DOWN ALL THOSE NAMES... AND LET THE DETECTIVES DO ALL THE WORK. 5 HOURS LATER YOU CAN GO BACK TO RIDING YOUR BEAT. BY THE WAY. I ALSO HEARD SOMEONE ELSE SAY THIS...I'VE WORKED IN THE FIRST FOR 10 YEARS..LOVED IT....IF YOU WANNA BE THE REAL POLICE THEN GO THERE...WELL NOW HE'S IN A SO CALLED COUNTY DIVISION.
