Looks like the smartest guys were the ones that opted out. They will get their cars back. The rest of us will never see repayment of what was stolen.

Anyone that votes for a future contract that mentions anything about cars and privledges is stupid. Once it is written it WILL go up every year just like insurance does now. Once it is in there it will never go away. We will be opening a door that cuts our own throats. As a matter of fact, I bet future contract offers will attempt to raise insurance drastically. Don't fall for the old "we will give you a 5% pay raise" but somewhere in small print your insurance premiums will go from $90 a month to $250.

Look what goes on now; that most people voted for for some odd reason. You get a $60 a month raise and then all the sudden its time for insurance to go from $75 to $90. There goes 25% of your $60 a month raise. Pay attention people, they are a shady bunch of bandits. King Hugeous Cranious will attempted to get us one way or another. Keep that in mind when negotiations start up again. We just started the 3rd year of this contract, it won't be long.

Just got done watching the first 5 minutes of WAVE 3 news at 1100. Two of the top stories (Take-Home Cars and Harrods Creek Bridge) share a common connection. County government (Mayor and his cronies) attempting to shaft the people of this community. I don't know why the taxpayers elected these fools, and their arrogance is sickening. Now the bridge is on hold because someone else stood up to county officials. This will result in more taxpayers money lost needlessly because the Mayors office is out of control. People, it is starting to show in the light more and more. If the community only knew the true story with how bad the arena project, Museum Plaza, and center City are going to lose money. Once again I ask, when will the majority of the folks in this community wake up? The news reports these stories but refuses to stipulate the common connection. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT BY THE MAYOR

Where is the public outrage? The Mayor has once again publicly announced that he will spend MORE taxpayers money to appeal a decision that government has clearly lost?

Congratulations LMPD officers on a well-deserved and hard-fought victory.

I am disappointed to hear the Mayor will be using more of OUR (yes, you included) tax dollars to appeal the decision in an attempt to get more money from you.

Keep up the good work

Why does their appeal go back to Jefferson Circuit Court? Isnt that where Mitch Perry already ruled in our favor? It went to the State Appeals Court when the mayor didnt like Perry's Jefferson Circuit Court decision. Why can the mayor keep wasting dollars going back to a court that has already heard it? Seems like we are not in a huge of defecit as we are told if there is money to throw around.

How come the money collected so far was not going to an escrow fund? County govt. requested that of us (The FOP) during the original Jefferson Circuit Court hearing when Judge Perry said a dollar would suffice. Perry knew they were wrong and was not going to make an injustice worse. Thanks for doing your job Judge Perry! Where has the money gone if they are not going to give it back?

Welcome to the world of what the firefighters have been going through for Jerrys multiple terms of office. Watch out EMS, Sanitation, and Metro Parks. He is going to steal money from you now to make up for what he has squandered. The Mayor is like a degenerate gambler that keeps stealing from everyone that is important in his life because he feels he can "Get it all back" However, the hole keeps getting deeper. Close to China yet Jerry? Better snap out of it and call EAP and give them the "emotional problems" speech before you end up like Bernie Madoff.

I would have thrown in Animal Control but the Mayor actually already screwed them up as well when he hired that French-Canadian D O U C H E B A G. Someone should audit their books. This whole county is a joke. We keep putting all this information out there and people just smile and say "Gee Honey, That Thunder Over Louisville they do here sure is swell", and "That giant pink building that looks like a p e n i s sure is a swell piece of architecture".

When is someone going to ask Jerry point blank about the increased costs of the Arena Project, Center City, and the thing that is still just a hole in the ground called Museum Plaza? They broke ground on Museum Plaza over a year ago and now can't build it. Gross mismanagement has lead to this budget defecit.

I am glad that Jerry got ruled against once again and that there will be no current charges for the cars!

However, I will say that I am already worried about future contracts and what will happen in the future as "penalty" for the current win. Will a huge car charge be on the next contract? Will salaries not go up? What about health insurance - how high can it go?

I hate to take away from the current victory but I have a feeling contract negotiations are going to get very very ugly. Personally I would rather see them take the cars, keep health insurance low give some decent raises for once. We have a lot of medical bills and even raising the copay on medications and office visits could cost us a bundle of money.

Will there be an FOP vote for what to negotiate for in the next contract? Will the car issue end up supressing every other issue on the next contract?

Ladies and Gents?

The reason that our brothers and sisters in the community do not see what we see, is that WE do not communicate well or effectively outside of our own little world? I speak cop/fire/ems, I know cop/fire/ems, I translate cop/fire/ems ?. They don?t.

So, when asked ? OFF DUTY of course ? I always explain in simple terms? I ask them what they KNOW, then I explain to them what I KNOW? I also don?t try to pretend I am in insider, I am not. I am a trained observer ? all emergency services people are. We notice that which the public does not.

I remind them of the merger vote.

I remind them of the city GIVING away huge areas of land to industries associated with our mayor. (read Naval Ordinance ? the old Phillip Morris plant ? etc)

I remind them of their safety ? and what they gave up with the current

EMS system (no fault to those who work for their grossly mismanaged agency) which pales in comparison to both the old county and city services.

I remind them that this mayor has DESTROYED what was the county government that served them fairly well and replaced it with an inept system that kept the city in the red for many years.

I remind them that this mayor inherited MILLIONS of money from the county at the time of merger and has squandered the money.

I ask them about the Cordish Group and ask them if they KNOW anything about the relationships between the mayor and this PRIVATE BUSINESS.

I let them know that during the first ?good years? of merger when the city had money we, the police, did not get COST OF LIVING increases that were given to other city/county employees.

I remind them that COUNTY officers had passed on many years of pay raised in order to keep what the mayor has termed to be the CADILAC of health insurance plans.

I explain that MOST officers were not opposed to a fee, we just wanted to NEGOTIATE in good faith, as is required under contract law.

In short I take the time and effort to explain.

If the Police should have to pay for their cars, the Mayor should have to pay to sit in his office....and tanning bed. I'm just sayin....

I cannot agree more with some of the previous posts about Abramson ans his arrogance regarding this whole matter. Are they they that stupid to publicly say that like all the other legal issues that they have lost that they will continue to waste tax dollars on frivolous appeals? OMG! His first spokesweanies's statement was that they were going to appeal it to circuit court. Helllooooooooo...you already lost in circuit court. This is a Labor Department ruling not a ruling to re-appeal.

He is like a spoiled kid that doesn;t get his way. It isn't costing him anything, it is costing every taxpayer in Jefferson County though. He looses time and time again and continues to waste money.

I expect that I will get the money he owes me in the same timely fashion that he has paid the firefighters. Oh yeah, I forgot even though the supreme court told him in November of '08 they still haven't received a dime.

On a side note, I would like to thank the 50 week kneed sisters that didn't have enough faith to stay the course and I hope you add up the difference in between what it cost you for a vehicle, insurance and your own gas for the last 6 months plus the inconvenience of hauling all your own crap around and I'm sure you'll find out how much your imature reaction cost you personally. If we stay together we win, Your actions did nothing but make us look like their were 50 dissatisfied people to city hall. Instead those of us that bit the bullet until the ruling was announced are the ones that stayed together.

Losing your temper and making rash decisions won't get us anywhere. Yes I paid a hefty price to come to this point, but at least I know that my decision along with 98% of the rest of the department's was part of standing together. Had the ruling gone against us we would have stood together once again to turn in the cars. Be a little more patient next time.

I'm sure this will get a few people PO'd, but we have to stay united, not split like a small minority chose to do.

Now that we have won the labor ruling, we need to stay focused on keeping pressure on our council people to do what is right and make sure that the monies that were illegally taken from us get returned in a timely fashion.

We also need to make sure that we stay possitive about this and not let people detract from what is right. "The take home cars are a privelege, not a right" and "having skin in the game" were stupid loser catch phrases coined by this administration. They had no valid argument in court and therefore they lost.

Keep the pressure on them. Keep informing everyone you know all the mayor's crooked deals.

Has anyone heard that the mayor is planning on charging everyone with issued weapons $60.00/month/weapon?

I think it is hilarious that the county agreed to put the clause in our current contract that "repays/reimburses" us $60 month. This started July 1st if I'm not mistaken. This was to offset the previous charge before it went up. We were to pay for the cars for a year or two, and the county stated they would give it back to us under the table. Now that they legally can't take anything, they are stuck giving us the extra $60. Put that in your arse King Cranium !!

One of the top news stories today was the increase of car break-ins around the downtown area (specifically where the arena is going in). Imagine what will happen when it is completed and all officers are so disgruntled they wont work off duty for that POS Mayor, or just dont care. Oh, the car break in story was more important than two murders one hour apart. This county is a joke!!!
