Abramson's cronies try to spread muck about the Police

June 1st, 2009 @ 11:53AM (15 years ago)

There was a letter to the editor in Sunday's "Forum" section that made references to other unions (UAW, etc) giving concessions to their employers, and that Metro unions should learn from them.

Perhaps we have....

In case that letter writer missed the news story, GM (General Motors) declared bankruptcy today. So, the UAW gave up pay and benefits, and the company STILL is going under. What good, exactly, did their concessions do? Of course, our wonderful President is giving the UAW a large percentage of GM stock (meaning - control), so maybe that's why the union gave up some pay. They're getting, by federal mandate (and bypassing traditional bankruptcy laws) a definite control of the company for which they work. I guess if I were promised that, I might be willing to give up a bit of pay for now, as well.

Of course, as government workers, we don't "control" anything our employer does. If we did, we'd probably make him quit giving Cornish things like "forgivable $1,800,000 loans" for development of 4th Street. Or, we'd have voted on a completely unnecessary arena. Ever wonder how things went from "Do we need an arena?" to "Where are we going to build our arena?" I wondered that quite a bit. The only answer I could come up with is that the arena, and the waterfront, are to be Jerry's legacy, and nothing...not even bankrupting the government, laying off employees, etc. will get in his way.

For those out there who are against the take-home car program, and don't think it should be free. Rarely has an agency required their officers to pay for the cars. Jeffersontown has a take home program. It's free if you live in county, and if you take it out of county, it costs a small fee. The sheriff's department does make them pay, but last I checked, it was one tank of gas per month. Not a big deal, really. Shively only recently implemented a fee, and that was for when gas was almost $5/gallon. They pay $15/week for their cars. Again, not that big of a deal, and I'd imagine if the officers asked, they'd get the fee removed, since gas is no longer so expensive. Not my agency, though, so they can do what they want.

I also found a nice link that indicates a take home fleet SAVES money, versus hot seating the cars. "Hot seating" meaning that each car is used by all shifts. No cars are assigned to individual officers; having seen this type of fleet personally, I can say that NONE of the cars are taken care of, and they tend to break quite a bit. The link to the story/study can be found at (www DOT policedriving DOT com SLASH article46.htm)

As long as we're talking about take home cars, did you folks ever stop and consider how much Jerry spends on his take home car, PLUS the personal drivers he's got? Why does he need a driver? He's the mayor, and apparently doesn't need them for security purposes. Were that the case, Jerry wouldn't go bike riding all by his lonesome little self, right? He's the mayor of a mid-sized city, NOT the President of the U.S.A. Having a take home that he DOES NOT pay for, along with PAID drivers, is just ridiculous. Why, exactly, does the mayor of Louisville NEED a take home car/driver? I can understand using a government car for government business. But, I drive myself to where ever I need to go, be it business or not. Does Jerry really need to be driven everywhere he goes? Are his security risks THAT great to justify having a driver and government car?

I don't think so, either.

So, back to the union issues...as members of a union that represents employees of Louisville Metro, what do WE get out of giving up pay/benefits? The Teamsters were sold out by their leadership (Hi, Denny...betcha you STILL won't go around an EMS squad, will ya?) and took furlough days. This was supposedly to ensure no layoffs...Guess what? Layoff are back, and the furlough days didn't stop them from happening. So, people gave up pay and benefits for a "Maybe we won't lay you off". For nothing, essentially. What incentive is there in that?

Also, why is incumbent upon EMPLOYEES of Metro Government to fix the budget? Why no new taxes on the community. After all, it is YOU - the community, that benefits from the services provided to you by the government. You have NO problem at all asking us to give up our paychecks and benefits so that the mayor can continue to give out money to Cornish like it's coming from a tree in the backyard. What about a special "Cornish tax" of $50 per taxpayer? What then, Mr/Mrs. Holier-than-thou? Are YOU willing to give up money from YOUR pocket to help fix the budget this mayor created? If not, then I implore you to SHUT THE HELL UP.

We DIDN'T create this budget. Each union negotiated its own contract, granted. But, the mayor and the council signed off on that contract after months of negotiating it. These contract weren't completed overnight. The contract I fall under took over a year to agree to, and I know of at least one that went well over a year...right, LFD?

It's not the contracts screwing up the budget. It's the "strong mayor" system, and Jerry throwing money at the waterfront, the arena, 4th St, and now "Center City". Yeah, because we need a few more bars in this town. Guess who develops most of those areas...yep, Cordish. Even the mayor's cheerleader, the C-J, has posted these facts before. Granted, they didn't have much of a choice, since every other media outlet in town was on the story, and they had to at least pretend to have some journalistic integrity...but we all know how they really feel about Jerry.

So, here's my request for the people out there who think the unions are being greedy and unfair....either you need to give up some money from YOUR pocket, or demand that the mayor trim down the nonessential parts of his budget...like waterfront development and bars/nightclubs. FYI - the mayor has already stated the arena project won't be stalled/put on hold, due to contracts the city has signed. What about contracts he signed, in good faith, with his employees? Aren't we deserving of the same type of treatment? Is money being withheld from the arena? Are THOSE employees being asked by the mayor to take furlough days? Are THEY being laid off? Since the answer is obviously a resounding "NO!", then I guess it's plain to see where the mayor's loyalties lie. Here's a hint for the slow among us - It's not with his employees, but with big money, like the arena developers. If someone needs a link to Jerry's comments about the arena (and other major projects) contining on, please let me know. I'll be happy to post the full text of his comments on here.

Have a great day, Louisville...and please, start thinking critically instead of allowing the media to do it for you. All the facts about Jerry are out there; stop listening to the C-J and WHAS, and do your own research.

"The C-J editorialist, who remains unknown, because they don?t even have the gonads to put their name on their work..."

With the way cops seek revenge from what is said about them, who can blame the editorialist? How can you chastize someone for not putting a name to their opinion when your website is set up anonymously, supposedly to protect people from retribution?

"even though they were not specifically named in the contract because they used it in advertising for the position"

Id like to see someone post a copy of the contract, just to see all the things you provide for yourselves that arent listed in the contract as well.

"Had he come to us in the spirit of negotiation, things might have turned out differently."

I doubt it, Im just a civilian, who came here in the spirit of a dialogue, who was met with insults threats, and finally physical actions to intimidate me.

"I understand that it is only human nature to want to defend your idols

and their philosophies. To do so in such a rabid manner, well that is

the liberal way. They do not let facts or reasoning sway them in their

search for higher truth."

Question, what does "rabid manner" entail. As I have said, the threats and harassment I have received for just having an opinion are so far beyond the scope of acceptable response, that the fact you think cops arent taking the same unproductive actions and responses to their opposition is staggering.

"Liberalism is a shifty doctrine under which they accept the benefits of

society without the willingness to pay for them. It is much easier by

far to get someone else to pay for your blunders rather than make an

admission of guilt."

Again, look in the mirror. That could have equally applied in my argument towards you, and has been said in different terms, so I can only hope that it gets as much response for your fight as it did mine.

What does everyone think about the new court SOP?

How many times have you appeared and not be documented on the case jacket? You know the times when you hear "I take are of it". Or show up for a case and they tell you it was taken care of the day before, dismissed because I was not there, although MY subpeana was dated for the day I show up NOT THE DAY BEFORE.

Its crazy how this has been put on the ones that has the least involvment on the decision making in the court house.

It is the biggest sham the public has been given and the court system is sitting back letting us take the heat.

according to the researchers.......

Cybernet Arguing , Is This an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

I?m sure I don?t speak for myself when I say that many people seem to be obsessed with blogs and comments on these blogs. I have began to notice many who seem to take commenting on blogs to a certain extreme such as that of one who suffers from ?Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.? This disorder is defined as an, ?anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent and persistent thoughts and feelings and repetitive, ritualized behaviors.? (Sort of like A TRUCKER over commenting and bullying people via blog comment section, sound familiar?)

I mean its okay to occasionally leave a comment on a post that is interesting to you, and that you may have wanted to share your view about, but when those comments turn into a back and forth match of personal attacks against another and their views, then there may be more of a problem that stems much deeper then the blog. TRUCKERS who have to get the last word, who seem to harass you simply because you did not agree with them, who try and make personal attacks against your character all in the favor of appearing knowledgeable.

This behavior usually comes from an excessively dominant person who feels that what they are doing is right and they should get kudos for it, when in reality their behavior is beginning to reflect who they truly are and to most, appear to be that of a bully.

Blogging in a community should serve as a place where people can get together and share information, inspire each other, learn and grow from each other. Sure there will there will be disagreements, but thats normal and expected, but how one handles that is what matters. Dominant bullies (TRUCKERS) seem to ruin what blogging really stands for. Don?t get me wrong, its okay to have an opinion and voice that opinion as you feel, but one should be willing to accept the feedback they might get w/o becoming too personal or defensive.

So how do we deal with these dominant bullies?

In a recent article, author Allan Chapman shares the definition of an excessively dominant person and ways an average non-assertive person can deal with them.

He says:

?Non-assertive' people (in other words 'normal people') do not generally want to transform into being excessively dominant people. They usually just want to learn:

? How they can become more able to resist the pressure and dominance of excessively dominant people?

? How they can stand up to bullies (or one bully in particular)?

? And also, how they can exert a little more control in situations that are important to them?

?The fact is that most excessively dominant people are usually bullies. Bullies are deep-down very insecure people. They dominate because they are too insecure to allow other people to have responsibility and influence, and this behavior is generally conditioned from childhood for one reason or another. The dominant bullying behavior is effectively reinforced by the response given by 'secure' and 'non-assertive' people to bullying. The bully gets his or her own way. The bullying dominant behavior is rewarded, and so it persists.? Believe it or not, one should have sympathy for bullies because they too are victims. (A.Chapman, 1995-2008)

So here's to you OCD trucker, I have sympathy for you and you. This is why I only come to this site about once a month now..... and rarely will I look at the comments because I know that your OCD will always control you and make you continue to stay on this site, therefore wasting a good portion of your life, because if you haven't figured out, no one cares or believes anything you have to say. You are just like a pesky peter knat that an animal keeps licking or swatting at, in hopes that the peter knat will quit landing on its pecker. So if you like hanging out on peckers by all means stay around, because you are accomplishing nothing else.

AND..... OCD Trucker..... no sense in responding to this, because I will not be coming back to see your pathetic, again and again and again same posts, with no real purpose. Spending time with my family and friends are much more important. Go to counseling for your problem.. the hours you spend on this site have turned into days and months that you could be spending with your kids if you have any, or your parents if they are still around. Every moment is precious and life is too short to continuously waste valuable time accomplishing nothing on this site but the irritation of others. Please do not let your disease rule your life, Take control trucker !!!!!!

I was distressed the other day when I heasrd that once again Abramson has made it a point to say that personel/people are the reason we are broke. He is not filling 500+ vacancies, laying off 130 people and cutting back on Metro Services all around.

Yet, the employees that perfrom all the tasks are to blame because they are money hungry etc... Imagine that , still nothing about how he sunk the economic stability of Louisville with his shady business deals.

How many jobs and families was it worth to you Mr. Mayor for the Cordish Deals? How many lives have you destroyed to line you and your cronies pockets? How many jobs could have been saved had you not given away the INCOME from Slugger Field and Naval Ordinance to your pals.

How can you sleep at night knowing how many lives you have destroyed and how many dreams you have shattered with you nepotism, greed and corruptoion.

There is a special place in hell reserved for you.

When someone spits on an officer, cusses them, punches them, kicks them, shoots, stabs or kills them, we are told to get over it because that is what we signed up for. When I signed up I knew all these things and I also knew that I was given a take home car which had certain obligations come with it. I did sign up for it.... ALL of it.

Skin In The Game ( Liberal Catch Phrase 2009) - I have skin in the game.

1. Since merger, I have not received a raise equal to or greater than the average cost of living increase.

2. My out of pocket health care costs have gone up 100%

3. My out of pocket expense for my car has gone up 160%

4. I have to fight, sue and beg to get back pay when we settle a contract or are owed money stolen from us.

So yes, I have skin in the game! The Metro Council has not taken a pay cut. In fact did anyone notice that the Council Chamber were quitely remodeled recently. But we have no money.........maybe we can hire back another deputy mayor to find some.

Check out stimulus watch dot com and see the waste. $500,000 for 1000 trees in Louisville Parks, $4,000,000 for paving 62 miles of............alleys, yes alleys. Layoff good city employees but let's pave an alley, I guess so the crack heads don't slip and go after the city.

What really kills me about this whole situation is how he specifically mentioned that he would not be raising taxes but laying off metro employees. I am furious that he expects so few to pay for so many. RAISE TAXES ON EVERYONE!

In my humble opinion, this is where the deceipt begins:

How can a Mayor, who has a department with the sole purpose of keeping tabs on revenue and all things economic, all of a sudden be confronted with a shortfall? Are the employees of the Accounting/Budgeting/Whatever department that incompetent? Of course not! He has known for a long time that he was overspending and misusing the city's funds. With a department dedicated to crunching numbes I am sure he was advised countless times on the state of the city.

He also trusted in the passing of the "library tax" but failed to realize that the people would see right through his manipulative ways. To add insult to injury, he "finds" accounts here and there as if we should be relieved? How does a Mayor not know about accounts and funds? How can a Mayor be so incompetent and still be in office?

Jerry has frivolously spent on things that offer the city little benefit: granite curbs, new stadium squeezed between high risers and without parking, and the list is endless. And it is also no secret he has benefited Cordish CO. and other specific companies that moisten his hands.

Ah... but surely it is the Police's fault that we'rein this economic predicament right?! If the Police is to blame, blame them for this: no one has had the courage to investigate and charge Jerry and his croonies for all the corruption.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)

We all have to deal with difficult people. Some days we can be pretty difficult ourselves. Recognizing the difference between normal difficulties and personality disorders can be crucial to decisions about entering new relationships and continuing existing relationships. The material on Narcissistic Personality Disorder that is published for lay readers is not very informative, even though most people have had to cope with a narcissist at one time or another. A narcissist believes they are always right and you're the one who's wrong. A prime characteristic of narcissists is believing that they are always right no matter what, narcissists are extremely resistant to change and, unfortunately, tend to get worse as they get older. Narcissists elicit profound and primitive wrath and hostility from sane and stable people. This damages the social fabric by alienating the very people who might possibly be able to counterbalance the narcissists' malign influences. The children of narcissists may not have realized that the quirks and oddities of their impossible-to-please parents are not in any way unique or special but are in fact the symptoms of a personality disorder.

interesting tidbit

June 5th, 2009 @ 8:26AM (15 years ago)

this was posted in 'theVilleVoice" - I found it to be very interesting. If true - it stinks just like the beginning of another embezzlement scandal:

Before you start believing the LMPD budget, you can look and see that Jer has budgeted (again) for a full 1255 sworn officers. There are currently approximately 1125 active sworn officers employed by LMPD, with the traditional retirement month coming up in July.

He does this every year. He budgets the money for positions he has no intention of filling, then returns the ?saved? money back to the black hole commonly referred to as the General Fund. This amounts to over $10 million hidden dollars that looks like it goes to something legitimate, then disappears. Go figure. Meanwhile, the department isn?t nearly as big as the mayor makes it out to be.
