Good article but I must comment on something I and many others saw at the derby! Who ever put the signs in the air concerning our happy leader I must give kuddos! They were great!

verbal warnings from now on

IN POLICE WORK YOU HAVE A BALANCE. COPS THAT EJOY CITING VIOLATORS AND COPS THAT LIKE TO WORK DOPE. I ENJOY BOTH BUT AM GOING TO START VERBALLY WARNING PEOPLE. WHY SHOULD I BE "PUNISHED" FOR WRITNG A CITATION AND NOT GET TO FOLLOW IT THROUGH COURT? IT IS EASY $$. WHEN OTHERS START TO VERBALLY WARN VIOLATORS THEN THE LAWYERS,JUDGES,CLERKS, WILL NOTICE WHY A REDUCTION IN CITATIONS ARE NOT BEING SUBMITTED. DONT MESS WITH THE COPS THAT ARE "PRODUCTIVE PRODUCE"

I THINK IT'S GREAT. THE MONEY THE CITY WILL SAVE WILL NOW ALLOW US TO TAKE OUR CARS HOME WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY FOR THEM...AWESOME

My lower limit for speeders will now change from 20 over to 30 over/reckless. Merry Christmas. On the downside, within 6 months, the collisions with serious injuries I have to work are gonna go up dramatically. On the upside, people will finally realize there is no 'quota'. Court pay was one of the few incentives we had left, to really work hard. Good job Jerry - way to make everyone get lazy all of a sudden. And yes - I mean Jerry. Who do you think tells Bob what to do and who to do it to?

If I am not mistaken court pay is illegal. ANY time outside of your normal 40 hour work week must be compensated at your overtime rate. Therefore the city has broken the law again. And no the FOP cannot negotiate a point of federal wage and labor law. It has been overlloked for years and needs to stop. If you are called to court your need to be given a minimum number of hours at your overtime rate, not a flat rate well below you required OT rate.

You officers finally got what you all gripped about for years. why go to court for issues not needing an officer on the first call. I can say that if the FOP takes the stand that officers are losing pay, then you have lost a supporter of the police. If officers count on court pay to survive then you need to get another job. John Mquire i saw you on the news tonight and it appears you want to make the court pay another issue between the city and the police. John if you go forward i hope you lose so badly that your fellow officers will finially get rid of you. I suggest this issue be left alone as the public will never support this gripe.

VERBAL WARNING

May 6th, 2009 @ 8:04PM (15 years ago)

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS I ONLY HAVE BEEN GIVING VERBAL WARNINGS. WE WILL SEE HOW THE TRICKLE EFFECT OCCURS. (LAWYERS,COMM OF KY,CITY OF LOUISVILLE,COURT SYSTEM). THE MAJORITY OF OFFICERS DONT WRITE TICKETS SO I CAN NOW SEE THE ONES THAT DID TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT.TO ONLY ISSUE VERBALS. YOU WILL SEE.

I'm glad! I hate going to court. It ruins my valued off days and sleep. Also, it looks horrible when officers complain about the loss of court pay. If you really want to get subpoenas, then fight some real crime and stop doing easy traffic stops, pulling yourself off the beat, while your partners are picking up your slack, taking care of the beat.
