paycheck deductions

March 26th, 2009 @ 10:47PM (15 years ago)

It's great to see this story. Especially since I saw my paycheck today and wondered why it was so low. Then I noticed, it's the first paycheck with the full $160 fee taken out. According to my math (please excuse me here Velcro), $950,000 divided by $160 is 5,937.5 If you divide that by 12, then you find that your take home car fee could be paid for 495 years with the money being given to Cordish. Now that is taking into account that you use it for offduty. If you just take it home and pay $100 a month, then your fee could be paid for 792 years (not months).

The real irony is, according to courierjournal's website, Louisville Metro Govt. is paying $81,000 a year for an accountant. I make half that, and even I know that giving Cordish more money smells like bean music.

Yours truly,

Deputy Darrell

Stop whinning. No one and I mean No one will do anything about it. There were 5 days of newspaper articles on why the police miss court and a 15 second clip on the Mayor and his spending spree. You can't touch him. No one can or will so just sit back and enjoy.

P.S. haha I'm never leaving either love B.W.

sick to death of politicians like Jerry the self serving turd

March 27th, 2009 @ 9:19AM (15 years ago)

Did anyone expect Jerry to give a crap about the people he is supposed to be looking out for (taxpayers)? No - Jerry only cares about Jerry. Jerry always says one thing and then does another. When anyone calls him on it, he says, "who me?, no I didn't" and changes the subject. Our cerebrally challenged public says, "oh, ok - our mistake." This will never change. If a child throws a tantrum and you give in to it, the tantrum will always be thrown. Jerry is that child. Our inept, or paid off, or both, councilmembers are no better. They don't hold him accountable and give in to his childish fits. I have no respect for any of them! Politicians from local, state, and federal levels prove time and again that they are in office for personal gain only. I vomit when I hear elected politicians careers characterized by the term 'public service'. It should be called personal service b/c that's what it is. Jerry's career should be referred to as 'a lifetime of round-a-bout embezzlement.' aka - kickbacks. No one will ever investigate Jerry's crooked deals or defiant negligence - no one cares but us. I am confused as to why we even have a (spine-less) city council. Oh yeah - Jerry likes his cheerleaders. Louisville must be full of crazy people. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. The public says they want Louisville to be better, and are tired of a top heavy, self serving local government. Yet they re-ellect Jerry every time. No wonder I have a job. If this makes you angry - do something about it. get rid of this 'dick-tater'

from WLKY - INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis city officials have blocked plans by boosters to use lasers to project images on the sides of downtown buildings to promote Louisville and the University of Louisville Cardinals? appearance in the NCAA basketball tournament. Louisville deputy director of communications Chris Poynter said the light show was a spur of the moment idea and tourism officials will use other promotions, such as handing out literature to people attending the NCAA Midwest Regional semifinals on Friday. WTF? we are supposed to be broke! Who was going to pay for this crap? - taxpayers that's who Jerry will say that U of L boosters were donating private money, but then why was DDC Poynter speaking about it. If it was privately funded, there is no need for Jerry's gimp (3rd class) to open his pie-hole.

I noticed in the article it says that the Board of Aldermen set the 995000 aside...uh....last time I checked the board of Aldermen went away in Jan 2003. How can he say that the money was set aside by a group that no longer exists? I vomited just now thinking about all the WASTE and crooked deals that continue to exist without the general public seeming to care. This is YOUR money too. We have no money for OT, for equipment, new hires (one class cut this year) and we can keep dumping money to his buddies at Cordish? How about the Laser light show they wanted to do in Indy??? Come on!!! WE do not need that/. No one going to these Basketball games are going to move to Louisville because they saw a laser light show. I just got sick again....got to stop typing!

Did you see the article on the ville voice about the laser show? It projects writing on the side of a building. The example the mayor has been using of the technology is hard to read, kind of like gang graffitti.

When they finally got a still shot of the laser show image it says f*** the police!

How about seeing how many tickets and lock-ups we can make and filling up the courtrooms with officers making thousands of dollars in court pay? Stop writing parking tickets and tows that just give money back to the city. We need to be making the money to pay for our cars. The mayor doesn't care about anyone but his @# *ing self and bars. We need to let the public know where we stand. No one is helping us and we just keep whining like babies.

This man has no shame. He is the most sleazy politician that I have seen in my lifetime. I am sure each area of the country has their King of Slime, but he is throwing it in everyone's face now. I wonder how much he paid to have the transparency bill die in committee. Now that he has millions at his disposal it is evident that he will continue to do exactly as he pleases.

Hello FBI can you all do something. He is making Capone look like a srteet corner thug. He is laundering money out the butt and nobody is doing anything about it.

Did you know that in the Police budget that he makes every division pay "rent" on property owned by Metro Government? Did you know that he let's his cronies operate on Metro Government property for free?

March 27th, 2009 @ 8:58PM (15 years ago)

this whole thing stinks but what got me the most is how jerry and the head of downtown development said the money was as good as spent because they already gave cordish a contract for it. Hell, jerry is willing to break contracts left and right with the goverment employees and their unions without caring but he cannot break a contract with his but buddies.

Will someone please investigate this guy and his crooked deals.

On another note, I would love to see the cj or any other media outlet do a story on how people can "retire" and come back to the same job they left. Amy McTyre (?) in police finance, Robin Oates, jane driskle, and others have or are coming back to the same jobs they left. So much for others in their office to be promoted to jobs that they have worked hard to obtain. No interviews or anything. Just leave and come back when you fulfill your time away and get your old job back.

Dear Citizens of my great Town,

I have no intentions of ever serving anyone other than myself. The pockets of those that contributed to my political success are much more important than public safety to the rest of you lost and ignorant people. Please understand, this whole controversy is about me and my image in the national political arena. It has nothing to do with you nor will it ever. I believe once everyone comes to terms with the autonomous power I have and understands that your duly elected council member is nothing more than a powerless puppet, I will be able to move on with under the table and corrupt deals. Thank you for voting for me as I know you will again in two years,

Sincerely,

J.A.

The Dems stick together and shoot down a bill that would require big head to show a budget. To show who is still king he gives almost an additional million bucks to the Cordish...this was his way of rubbing it in everyones face.. Liberals are the most crooked people out there. The ignorant people in the metro area keep electing them. ANYONE could run on the Democratic ticket and get elected here. Its pretty pathetic.

The apostle of arrogance has struck again! Let's see Jerry's buddy has a failed business and wants to do some cosmetic makeovers on some property owned by Metro Government and leased to him for a song. We agree that he will bring in a national chain and instead he is going to pocket the millions and run the bar himself.

Let's puch this through in one of those "Sign-this-quickly-you-don't-need-to-read-the -fine-print-deals" like he did back in November a week before he announced we had a finacial crisis.

Can anyone not see a pattern of criminality here? Can anyone not see he is out of control? Can anyone tell me why the transparency bill never left committee?

Jon Pugh was in Frankfort everyday yet we hear nothing from the FOP. I work midwatch so I can't make meetings all the time. Why isn't our e-mail system that I signed up for being used to keep me informed? Why hasn't our FOP President still not told us about losing the insurance grievance?

Jerry Abramson said, ?They?re willing to put their money in and match with ours in terms of an opportunity for renovating and refreshing the entertainment venue, and that is what the money the Board of Alderman set aside 7 or 8 years ago was to be specifically used for.?

Good grief, I'm new to the Lousiville area (as well as the state) and I have no political experience or credentials, but 7 or 8 years ago, the financial status of this city (and country) was no where near as horrible as it is today. Common sense will tell that situation dictates when it comes to spending. 7 or 8 years ago, I began saving for an LCD TV. I now have the money to purchase that TV; however, since then, I've lost my job and am unable to pay my mortgage. Accordingly, I will use my TV money on my mortgage. This isn't rocket science..........Wish I had done more research/homework before moving here.

court crap

March 29th, 2009 @ 2:52PM (15 years ago)

tell you what i really enjoy - prosecutors and defense attorneys calling me at home, waking me up during the day, not even for a case that went to court that day. should i claim OT every time this happens (weekly)? should I start calling prosecutors and defense attorneys in the middle of the night and see how they like it? or both? I go to court every time, every day, whether i am working or not. they don't give a crap what my opinion is - amend it down. no one is held accountable in Jefferson County and they never will. this is NOT the case in Bullitt, Hardin, Meade, etc... I have been to court in other counties. the only reason we get subpoened - if we don't show up, the case could be dismissed. Like another officer said - I have been told I could leave, then checked courtnet the next day to see that the case was amended, dismissed, or whatever - no calls to me, no questions for me, no nothing. BACK-DOORED as usual. CJ you can bite me.

I respect officers more than most. Growing up I wanted to follow my dad and become a police officer. I went through the process twice, got black balled because of my last name. While I'm not an officer, I know of all the BS you have to go through. But, I see more complaints than solutions. My job as a union official, not with the FOP, requires me to make arguments and then a solution to the problem. I know how hard it is for a group to come together, to try to show everyone that while it might be hard in the short term, the benifits in the long term are worth it. I wish I was out there with you, following my life long dream, but I beg you all to stick together, think as one and do the dirty work needed to change your situation. When someone is fired, for a BS reason, stick together, show support. If they are going to turn the policies around on you, follow them to the letter. It's a fight half of you won't take, but to the ones who are willing, you can change the way you are treated.

Okay, I'm a dispatcher, who like all of my co-workers (excepting LFR dispatchers) are being furloughed. There is talk of extending the furlough day program, now instead of 4 days we'd be furloughed a total of 12. I'm sure it won't stop at 12. When a successful business gets free money from the city during these tough economic times to build over priced venues that NO ONE can budget into their monthly expenditures, and then that same multi-million dollar corporation doesn't have to pay back the loan (if the business succeeds for X amount of years) I question the Mayors need to furlough people who have no extra cash to spend. The smart plan would be to bail out his employees and make the FAT CAT Cordish group pay back the loans with interest. Thennnnnnnn we the employee would happily go to town and spend that extra cash on parking, liquor and buck tucking if the service is sexy enough.

Come on Louisville get a nut!!!!!

JERRY ABRAMSON SUCKS

March 31st, 2009 @ 10:27AM (15 years ago)

I saw a sticker on a car yesterday that said "Jerry Abramson Sucks." I want someone to post where I can purchase some for all of my personally owned cars. I don't feel I could possibly write someone a ticket that had this sticker plainly visible on their car/truck/van/4-wheeler/rig/boat/airplane/tank/Bradley/SUV/hovercraft/space ship/motorcycle/wagon/ or fricken big-wheel. - SPREAD THE WORD. Also, I do not reply to moles, truckers, Jerry, or punks. I was not the poster replying to some recent trash. Stand by, to drop some STIMULUS cash for our economy...............

We all know you were there and did what you were supposed to do, but Jerry is just going to raise taxes and screw over the working man/woman. The CJ and Jerry can't wait untill they can prove an officer wrong on time and money.

LMPD Command just sent out on e-mail that says in the very near future LMPD will attempt to eliminate "first call" subpoena's for some misd. and traffic cases! The Memo said it will eliminate THOUSANDS of subpoena's each year. Well some of you just took ANOTHER PAY CUT! No more going to court for speeding, stop signs, and no insurance. You actaully will have to do real police work now to get that 50.00 bucks!

I wondered about that, myself, I knew it had to go up dramatically. Again, as another poster said, the best way to get rid of a bad rule is to actually follow it to the letter.

And it isn't 25 an hour if you have to burn an hour or more after you get off work, or get up, get dressed, and drive into town - it's more like 3 or 4 hours just to go to court on a minor ticket.

The thing I cannot seem to grasp is that on tuesday we see in the Comm Journal that almost 2 million of the city's stimulus money will be spent on a bike house that will benefit maybe 20-30 people. This will be a nightmare! The 1st Division will get numerous calls a day to run the homeless out of the showers. What a good idea. The next day an email comes out that demands all civilians take their furlough days. How about we take that 1.5 million and put it in the busted budget and let those civilians keep their money. The definition of stimulus says - something that rouses or incites to activity: as a: incentive. What kind of incentive will a thousand employees see when they are forced to take four unpaid days? A bike house will not help this community. Seems like a feeble attempt to win a vote or two. I am once again sick to my stomach with the whole thing. I wish someone (Metro Council) could someday have a say in the spending that goes on in this city.

Oh wow! You must be a real copper then! Been there, done all of that, huh? Seen this before, huh? Another cycle huh?YOU MY FRIEND MUST BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST SQUIRRELS AROUND! You dont get the point my oh so experienced policeman! Its about the easy money court can provide! Who cares these days about "real police work" anyway? If you had any sense, you experienced veteran that you claim to be, you would be considering how easy court pay could benefit your retirement and make things better for your families future when the day comes you can leave this place, which must not be anytime soon which is kind of hard to understand since you have SO many years on. Like I said, if you dont want to do the job then quit or dont make the arrest or write the ticket, your way of looking at things are costing your brother officers money. It doesnt matter if it is just for a short time or not, its money lost that cant be gotten back. And for your info long timer- I parked that ride when they first started charging for it, unlike you, I saw the writing on the wall because I have been around long enough to see how things work with this mayor. With your large amount of time on I would think you seen it too. Or, are you just full of sh!t?

If he was in a marked car would this shooting even have taken place? We are up this year by how many murders compared to last year? Hum..................it's only going to get worse. I don't even go to church without my gun anymore. Bad economy....people losing jobs....robberies are up because more folks are hurting financially....and they don't want marked cars on the street!
