Excellent!! Eventually something will happen to prove how the employees of Metro Government are and have been getting screwed for years.

Mayor Abramson needs to go to New York and take lessons on how Government officials should treat their First Responders. Mayor Bloomberg was quick to recognize and thank First Responders on National News! I bet the NYPD, NYFD and other emergency services don't have to fight Mayor Bloomberg in court?

"State law requires that the money be passed through local paychecks"

Ok, here is a novel idea. Mr. Mayor, why don't yopu obey the law? That is one of the reasons this city is in such a big mess, because this arrogant mayor thinks he is above the law. If you don't want to pay OT on the stipend then cut a separate check each pay period, each month, each quarter or once a year. The law says you have to do it.

Another thing is that makes this an unfair labor practice is that he is quoted extorting the cooperation of the firefighters in his big scheme over everyone having skin inj the game and when they said no, rgiht on the heels of the Supreme Court victory (which he still hasn't paid) then the vindictive SOB did this to them. What a petty SOB.

Do the right thing for a change Jerry. Quit acting like a spoiled child and act like a mayor.

Sorry I posted again so everyone could see it!

Sad thing is I am not a FireFighter but know several who are including a district chief who is a great friend of mine from earlier ff days. How can our crooked mayor continue to get away with this bullsh*t? That is their money by law like everyone else is stating.. Not giving them that is BREAKIN the law and is a crime! I say the mayor is on thin ice with this latest scandal... He needs to dock pay from his own salary and clean up his mess.. I cant stress enough, the people responsible for this lies in the hands of those who voted for him! I DID NOT AND AM PROUD OF THAT! Look @ the mess hes created.. What a joke... I hope JUSTICE GETS served to him in one way or another before its too late.. .Whats next PAYCUTS, PENSION WITHDRAWL, 401K LOSS, HEALTH AND DENTAL AND VISION, REDUCTION OF SALARY? JOB CUTS? Loss of fire protection? Selling firehouses, firetrucks and ambulances and fire hydrants for his own personal financial gain? TAKE IT ALL JERRY TAKE IT ALL, Keep it up and the only friend your gonna have is that lonely empty office of yours since we cant take anything from you! Keep in mind people I dont even work for city government.. I work for a private employer and damn dont I think god for that everyday....

God bless our firefighters who despite being impoverished by this cruel hearted autocrat braved two blazes during bitter cold temperatures. It is funny that I never noticed the Mayor showing up at either of the scenes nor any of his spokes people. I guess he was so disdainful of them and possible afraid that instead of showing support (shich he seems incapable of) he ignores them. I noticed there wer not even any after the fact press conferences honoring them for their heroics. What a douch-bag!

I did notice Chief Fredericks out there battling the blaze with his troops. Kudos Chief.

Other cities have the same concern, paying the overtime, and are working to have the state change the rules. The legislature will change it this session.

Happy Pants Jerry is the only mayor who has punished the employees, all the other mayors saw it for what it was, a temporary glitch in the system and a small extra cost. They would rather pay the extra money for a month or two then punish thier employees.

In case you missed it this just hit the Wave 3 news at 5. I am at a loss for words so I will let the article speak for itself.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The Kentucky Court of Appeals have vacated a judge's order that prevented Louisville Metro government from charging police officers higher cost for use of police cars while off duty.

In its ruling, the Court of Appeals said that Judge Mitch Perry "abused its discretion in entering the temporary injunction." The Appeals Court went on to say that River City FOP Lodge 614 "failed to establish the requisite of irreparable injury."

Metro government wants to raise the fees for take home cars from $30 and $60 a month to $100 and $160 a month. The higher fees are charged to officers who use the police vehicle for off-duty work.

What a great day this turned out to be!

Re:Mayors reach goes to strangle the blue line

January 20th, 2009 @ 8:34PM (15 years ago)

For those of you who believe next months decision will go in our favor and we will prevail, just look at how the Mayors reached into the minds of the appeals court judges. Today they have sent a message to us that it will be next to impossible for us to win. For those of you whom have begun to accept defeat and are going to pay the increased rate I feel sorry for you. This has made up my mind and I am no longer going to sit back and take it, I am going out this weekend and finding a new car and giving this admistration back theirs.

WE NEED TO COME BACK TOGETHER...AND AGREE TO PARK THE CARS.
