Rats Leaving A Sinking Ship?

January 4th, 2009 @ 9:07PM (15 years ago)

If Jane Driscoll retired, then why is she still signing my checks ?? Is it not against the retirement rules to retire and then come back into the same position ?? Do you not have to wait 30 days before coming back into another position? My Equipment allowance check that is dated 1/1/09 is signed by Jane Driscoll. What was her effective retirement date???.

Maybe we can get another deputy mayor to leave if the media knew he got a paid city summer job at the pd for one of his son's basketball players.

It amazes me that each week we see something new unveiled here about some type of corruption yet nobody is doing anything about it or so it seems. I haven't heard form my FOP leaders about the open records request they filed along with the other union leaders. How about it guys? Did Abramson provide the books as per state law withing 10 days? If not, what is being done about it?

The Firefighters are just beginning to get Jerry's pocketbook, this is probably for the other 40 mil that he didn't want to settle out of court 10 years ago. I hope they drop the city's Rainey Day Fund to $00.00. Notice it's in the Appeals Ct.

What is Abramson thinking????? Didn't he just lose a ruling over something similar in the KY Supreme Court? How much of my taxpayer dollars is he going to waste making these spurious appeals that only delay what he should have done in the first place.

For those readers out there that don't understand the process, if an employee believes that the administration has wronged them in any way or in violation of the contract, they union on behalf of the employee files a grievance with the head of the department they work for. If it cannot be settled amicably then it goes to the mayor's office for a hearing. If they still cannot sttle then it is heard by an independent arbitrator. Unfortunately, Abramson ususally completely didmisses the arbitrator;s ruling and pouts about it then appeals it to Circuit Court.

After Circuti comes the court of appeals and then the State Supreme Court. This process is long and costly. It takes years to wind its way through the system and in almost every case it comes down to he was told what he was doing was wrong and he continued to do it without fixing whatever the problem was. After all, it isn't his money!

TO THE FOP, WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON WITH THE OPEN RECORDS REQUEST AND THE PROMISE OF A DEPT. OF JUSTICE INVESTIGATION!?!?!?!

Answer for the folks asking about the open records request

January 6th, 2009 @ 1:37PM (15 years ago)

I'm really surprised this hasn't been put out to you yet.

First off, I'm FOP, but not with 614..over across the street from you all at the jail (Lodge 77). Last Tuesday, we had our monthly meeting, and Mary Sharp (our FOP atty) came for a question and answer session. One of the questions posed was with the open records request.

The answer, as I understand it, is this: Jerry and his gang forwarded links to several websites which purport to show what we (the FOP and the other unions) asked for. We (the unions) are in the process of examining the data to see if it REALLY is what we asked for. My understanding is that professional accoutant types (CPA's and such) are looking at it. If it's not what we asked for, Mary said the next step is Circuit Court to force the city to provide the info. Anyone wanna take bets on if we have to do that?

Again, that's what I got from the meeting, and from Ms. Sharp. I'm sure she'll be happy to entertain questions from you guys, as well. Hell, she offered to give us links to the website, if we wanted them. So, if you do wanna see the stuff, call Mary. If you don't have her number, Paul does...(hehe..have fun, Paul)

Jerry cant be mayor fire life

January 6th, 2009 @ 9:44PM (15 years ago)

First of all, I am just a civilian, I have lots of friends and even a few best friends that ride the streets and are in flex. Let me be the first to tell you if Jerry was for this city he wouldnt have sold the helicopter and southfields. Its really hard to give respect to someone who turns his back on the city and its employees. Sure we are in a economic bind and the economy is really hard up right now. We all are but the key fundamentals to running a successful government is backing up your key employees, IE; POLICE OFFICERS, FIREFIGHTERS, EMS, CORRECTIONS, and TELECOMMUNICATORS and every other city essential employee. If the mayor was for the employees he wouldnt be charging his people to take home city issued equipment. If I remember correctly part of the benefits of a police officer were a take home vehicle to use within jefferson county. I just looked and they removed that from the benefits list on the louisvilleky.gov website. I just remember working the Kelly Downard campaign and almost every house I went to was sold on Jerry but I tried and did my part to try and get KD elected, but in all honesty no one is to blame for JERRY being re-elected except for the public who voted for him. I am almost positive everyone who had any sense to the matter and literally ALL sworn members of metro gov voted for KELLY. Is there any law to get him out of office? Similiar to a president being impeached? I am just curious because the only people who really lose in all this matter is of course... THE PEOPLE AND THE EMPLOYEES of METRO GOV. We are paying Jerry $ 105,746 to do his job and two deputy mayors $115,000 apiece to do theirs... Are they above JERRY? Robert White makes $159,871 I believe Chief lives in Lake Forest in a very nice home which he should. However seems as though we could start capping some of these salaries to try and finance a helicopter and maybe even a bigger training facility. I just dont know with the combined salaries of these 4 employees totals near a half a million dollars alone $495,617 to be exact. Seems as though "tightening the belt" should come from the top and trickle itself down. I dont see Jerry putting on a uniform and vest a patrolling the streets protecting his taxpayers, I do however see people like my friends doing it, paying for the cars they are driving for around 42,000 a year some more sure some less obviously too... Here taxpayers are going to be forking the bill for the new downtown arena which should be soley paid for by UL and outside sponsers like Papa Johns, he seems to be a big fan of the cards and hes got enough cash to go around, let him pick up the tab and give him a skybox and call it Papa Johns Arena, hell he pretty much owns half the city anyway... I wont be mad, I only make about 35,000 a year and somehow I get to help pay for it and I dont even have a option too.... Also I am not a UL Fan, I bleed BLUE! Go CATS! Point proven of what I am relaying... Jerry needs to step up and do some right and either step down or start taking major steps to strengthen his own downfalls and not dip into his taxpayers wallets and start listening to his cops that put their lives on the line, every day and night... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH people.... Time to stand our grounds for once and give back to the citizens who pick the bill up every week with their own checks... and its employees!!!

I AM FOR NEW MAYOR AND NEW CHIEF OR MAJOR CHANGES AND PAYROLL REDUCTIONS FROM THE TOP!!! ANYONE AGREE???

JASON

Just got word King Jerry LOST in court again, restraining order stays. When will this goofball quit wasting taxpayers money in court when he knows he's not going to win.

Court-No word from FOP

January 7th, 2009 @ 7:03PM (15 years ago)

Lets see- A day in court regarding the membership and again no word from the FOP about what happened. Seems to be a normal thing these days to be in the dark. This leadership is terrible. Why no word yet to the membership on the outcome in court today?
