Police Officers given new list of ultimatums

I agree that the citizens are watching and they are bothered seeing a wife and children in the marked cars. I myself would not ever put children in my car. What the public keeps forgetting is that we are PAYING to drive the car off duty. We PAY for it! It does look bad when the family is in the car but let me repeat...........we are PAYING for it!

Since the Hobby Lobby did not get robbed or your car broken into in the lot while you were shopping, I believe that the marked car in the lot did it's job. That was the reason for the take home car program in the first place, to fool criminals into believing there are more police around than there really are. I think maybe you are looking at it the wrong way. The more marked police vehicles in the lots and on the roads the safer you are. Wait until the fatal accidents start going up because people feel they can drive as fast as they want.

So what he had his family in the car? How many people with company cars drive their families in them, go on dates, and do shopping. It's the reason we make 10-15,000 dollars less a YEAR than other departments our size. We have a take home car program that members of the department agreed to forgo raises in order to keep. Now we are paying monthly to drive the cars. Fine with me, but pay me what other departments make and balance it out.

Every other metro gov't. employee is being asked to take furlough days for six months at a savings of 7-8 hundred dollars per employee. We are being told that we'll pay 100.00 a month (but can increase at any time) for the "priveledge" of the take home car. If this is REALLY about balancing the budget, why indefinately and why so unfairly spread across Metro Govt? Please, educate me.
