Good job Dave! You always stood up for us when you were our platoon Sergeant so none of this surprises me. I feel sorry for you guys in the 7th but now at least I won't have to sit through anymore 45 minute rollcall speeches on the "new dawn of policing" from J.H.

FROM WHAT EVERYONE HAS HEARD IS THAT THERE IS ALWAYS A DIFFERENT MOTIVE FOR EACH PARTY INVOLVED.

1.THE MAJOR-ex-wife under his command WITH "FEELINGS" STILL(nothing good can ever come out of your ex woking for you).

2.THE EX-WIFE- $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$(plus you take care of me (future detective spot) and i take care of you!!)

3.THE SGT.-does not like being told what to do and uses this as a opportunity to claim "whistle blowing" prior to transfering out.

This entire situation is ridiculous. The reason Harper was cleared from the charges is because he didn't do it! Everyone who knows him knows this. She is just wanting to get back at him, and gain some $$$ as well. Everyone who knows Harper knows that he wants nothing to do with Minnear, and that he is happy with another. I don't know what her issue is that made her make these false allegations, but those of us with a brain know that they are not true. The investigation turned up nothing, and this lawsuit will do the same. Trying to destroy someone's career with false accusations is stupid.

 I like how fast PSU takes to clear a case against one of the command staff.  I know of a few officers who have cases still going up there that are almost 2 years old.  Way to look out for the "important" people, of course his case was unfounded too.  

In case you all haven't figured out another aspwect of this, the elite normally take 6 months to a year to handle a case and all of a sudden this one flys through in a matter of weeks! This says nothing towards guilt or innocence, it specifically speaks of cover up. The Chief whitewashed the investigation because the decision to promote someone despite a shall we say "Colorful" past has come back and bit him on the place where he sits and obviously the repository of his brains. When the propmotions were announced last month at roll call and they read of his name EVERY old LPD guy was dumbfounded. We all liked the guy but promoted to Major. Holy Cow Batman!

Ok, I don't think it is fair to write about something you probably know nothing about. Jimmy has children and while you go around talking about him you have forgotten that he has children and this can hurt them. Remember there are 2 sides to every story!!! Time will tell all!!!In the mena time lets be cautious of what is said or how it is said for his childrens sake and other family members. I do not know him but I know his family members!!!!!~!!!

To all that continue to talk smack about Jimmy. The ones who post a comment on here that say they are glad that he is gone are the ones that are scared to be the police. This confuses me because a few of you are on the elite lmpd swat team but are afraid to jump a corner and take a dope dealer to jail. Isn't that why you became a policeman to chase bad guys? Thats not a stat game it called work. I am just sorry for the people in the 6th that come to work and want to make this job fun. They lost the best boss this department has seen in a while. The other thing is it is a sad day when a Major and a Lt. have more arrests (or give them away) then a beat officer. For all the cry baby's I worked for Jimmy and for him to give a speach for 45 minutes and you call it bull then you don't know what motivation is. That should pump you up knowing that you have a boss that will stand by his officers 110% and even change his schedule so he can come and do police work with his troops. What other major have you seen hitting street corners with there division officers.By the way what was the total percent crime dropped in that division since he was there? Maybe that is why the chief promoted him. Take a look at the old street crimes unit. How many of them are commanding officers know. That should tell it all. Keep your head up Jimmy. There are people on the dept. still that are not afraid to be the police.

I for one am waiting for this to come to the trial. I fully hope that no one will offer or take a deal. This way all the truth will come out in court for everyone to see. If this is about more than just the money it should go to jury trial.

Well I know there are 2 sides to every story, true. So how come the investigation didnt get copies of the text messages??????? That would have proven the truth hands down. I know all the people involved, and have for several years. EVERYONE knows how Jimmy is with the women. Enough said about that. And its nice to see a SGT stand up for his people, thats rare in this department. So I say good job Sgt Dave Burns for doing what you are required to do by policy (Sgt Burns even tried to warn JH to stop before it got out of hand, and he refused to listen to him, and now its to this point). Those who have worked for Sgt Burns knows what kind of Sgt he is,and that he sticks up for whats right with the officers who work for him. He even went to the chiefs office to stand up for one of his detectives when the division Major at the time was trying to mess with the detectives retirement benefits, the chief agreed and took care of the problem. JH has been a GREAT BOSS in the past, I know I worked on his platoon for him on more than one occasion. But something has changed him for him to act this way. So before anyone makes any remarks about anyone of these officers/Major, lets see what the text messages really say and then we can all make our own decisions about who is right and who is wrong.

Yes it's been going on with Harper and his ex and for long time now. But being he is Turner's boy they gave it a six day investigation (joke) and tried to sweep it under the rug. Clay with his rep doesn't take losing cases, I guess he got hold of the phone records before they were destroyed. There will probably be a lot of money paid out in this one. Also it seems there were some high commanding officers that were involved with porn-gate and nothing was done to them either. Chief you taking care of the majors and above has finally come home to roost and I hope the public hangs you out to dry. It's about time it caught up with you. Maybe it's about time you pack you **** and find another place to go before everyone outside this dept catches up with the games you play. By the way did you son crash his car on the expressway while traveling a 100 miles per hour this week.

Most of the cry-baby officers who have posted the comments on this story couldn't lick Jimmy's Boots! There is a reason that spouses can't be in the same division, the ex wife should have been transfered to begin with. Jimmy was cleaning up that crap hole. I guess they had to find a way to get him out of the 6th division quick, you know before the Newburg drug dealers got put totally out of business. I guess it was to hard for some officers to go out and get those stats?

This is just sad. I know both Jimmy and Debbie like alot of you. Both of them are good people and good officers. That things should have gotten to this point is bad for all involved. The administration should have separated them after the promotion. Maybe if they had, this wouldn't be going to court. Another embarrassment for LMPD that could have been avoided.

Isn't it funny that you can read these comments and figure out whether they were written by old LPD guys or by JCPD and original Metro guys? I know why --I just wonder how many other people do.

I dont think being former city or former county has anything to do with being a perv...wasn't Bob "would you like to see my weiner" Johnson former county....him and harper ought to get together and start a bowling team or something.....i'm sure there are many other commanding officers who mysteriously managed to make rank despite the fact they were the biggest screw-ups or have the combined intelligence of a trash can, who'd be eligable to make the team...

Everyone keeps coming on here and saying JH is a good cop...no one is questioning his policing skills. I think he's a great cop too but when you take the rank of Major you have to mind your Ps and Qs. Even if the texting was a mutual thing between both parties you should know better. Up is down and left is right on this department so why even take the risk? As far as DB goes he's a great cop too and if he feels he was cast into a bad situation and treated unfairly then it's his right to file a suit. Officers file lawsuits against the department more than you think...it's not like they treat us great around this place.

Some people wonder why their comments were deleted. It is because the webmaster lets a lot of comments get posted, but some of them are too personal and too obnoxious even for what they do allow on here. If you can't make a comment without resorting to name calling and personal comments about a person then you shouldn't bother posting at all. Act like an adult and the professional that you are supposed to be. Some of these comments do nothing but make us all look bad.

How do you "let" someone be friends with your family? Seems like that is the choice of your family members. Given that there are kids involved, I would rather they not be enemies, after all.

Never in my life have I been so embarrassed. And so hurt. Not because of the situation at hand, but because of this article and the posted comments.I know both Jimmy and Debby. These two people have been part of my family for years. I talk with both of them. Your comments on here are hurting them and those girls. Just stay out of it. I am proud that other officers stood up for what they believe is right, and stuck to their guns. But I am disappointed this article was even posted for discussion. I check this site often, and read the comments, and every once in awhile comment back when I feel I have something useful to voice. This is one of those rare times. I work within the law enforcement community. I know how hurtful the general public can be towards Emergency Services, and law enforcement officers specifically. Please end your comments and thoughts, because now, we are only hurting ourselves. Please leave them alone. It is a personal, work matter. Another BS lawsuit brought about by some willing participant. First Krissy Hagan and now this. Some people will do anything for a buck. Very, very sad!!!!!

Hagan is the real gold digger. She has started something that can't be stopped . Anyone in a frivolous lawsuit like the one she filed must have issues. Anyway it is now a recurring trend. Lets see how this one plays out.

All I can say is each party involved has a MOTIVE. The Major should have behaved better. DM does'nt want to be a cop anymore $$$(really never was). DB should act like a SGT. and not get involved with other persons issues for personal gains.

Here is the latest--direct from T. Clays office ! The complaint against Harper was sustained by everyone through the Major over Internal Affairs. White, for whatever reason, decided to overturn the finding and issue his own. Why he would do this is a mystery, at least to me, but it has to be at the behest of Turner. I think everyone will find out that they really screwed up this time and they will pay, pay, pay! Let us pray.

Nice DM to have the "surgery" during derby week and be on "light duty" in the Majors office. Pertfect timing.

The important point to remember here is the speed in which this incident was disposed of by the Dept. Never in my almost 20 years has an investigation been wrapped up so quickly. THE FIX WAS IN. While that doesn't mean Major Harper was guilty, It does make you wonder what the dept is hiding,

Also, a lot of you want to give him the benifit of the doubt, but in the same breath you accuse his ex and Sgt Burns of doing this for the money. So lets all just let the courts work it out and let the city settle.

Swat isnt for everyone even you who believes that the department dont back you. Why would you put yourself on a specialized team and risk something going bad if the department dont back you. Find another excuse for not doing police work. I bet if your family became a victim of a crime you would want this department (that does not back you up) to help. Unbelievable!!! Having been on the department, former County if you must ask, I find it amazing what you guys are saying to each other I don't know JH that well but yes have heard of his reputation as being a great CO and a guy who would help anyone. The womanizer rep sounds like a bunch of BS because everyone you talk to claims that they have not seen him out anywhere to confirm it as being true plus which one of you morons wouldnt want women asking you out if that is the case sounds like some jealosy and it is his business anyway looks like he needs to stop being nice to people as look what it got him I respect the guy for that and refuse to believe he did this stuff because he is a smart person

Debbie and Dave are both good officers. Why does everyone want to constantly bring them down? They are just doing what they feel has to be done to get to the end of this. Leave them alone. And leave Jimmy's family alone too. This is really affecting his girls. I know this first hand. Maybe once in awhile it would be nice to see some encouragement on these posts instead of constant dogging!

This just in the dept is looking into the post that were made and if it came from a work computer they are considering an unvestigation. They can track it through your I P address.Oh no hope you did not say the wrong things while you were on duty.

I can't believe the "Men In Blue" whom I have had the utmost respect for are slandering each other the way you are. Do you have any idea what impressions you are leaving on our "Future LMPD Officers"? My teenage son's goal for the past 3 years has been focused on finishing H.S. joining the Air Force and coming home to be one of you. A Man in Blue. Last night he called me in to see what was being written about Major Harper. It wasn't so long ago there was an article written in the CJ about Maj. Harper and what a difference he had made in the crime stats in the 6th Division, our neighborhood. Now, he is reading nothing but "trash talk" about someone he had respect for.

I would strongly suggest all of you who have had fun throwing digs at a proffessional publicy remember one thing.. you are setting examples for not only my children, but yours as well. Its ashame that one bad rumor gets around faster than 5 great compliments. What goes around comes around. This could be you they are talking about one day. How would you feel? Show pride in your fellow man instead of throwing stones. Set examples for our children and the uniform you should be proud of wearing. My son is now considering making a career in the Air Force after reading all of this. His words were " Mom, I want to be a part of a team. Not put my life in danger wondering if they hope I get shot." I think thats pretty sad.

Major Harper is a wonderful part of LMPD. Shamefully people that always complain just to hear their own voices make disparaging remarks and think they're special for the effort. How about this shut your mouth unless you KNOW what and who you're talking about?!? Yeah I know that'll never happen. But bear in mind that all these negative comments are made by people in the backseat, that never step forward and do anything other than grumble under their breath, if you mean what you say.
