Absolutely - I wonder what happened to the underlying case - when the seized evidence wasn't accounted for? And the funny thing is, why dispose it at all?

But the question is, are the other deputies willing to go under oath about this? That's what will be necessary. Does Sparrow have an opponent this fall?

He narrowly won the Republican nomination by 1% over an Oldham County Police Lieutenant. Since there was no Democrat running in the primary, that means he won re-election for Sheriff.

At some point, the Chief Deputy and other witnesses should be asked about this by the state police or the Attorney General's Detectives, or else someone isn't doing their job. If this were a real law enforcement agency and not a paper-pushing Sheriff's office, all of the defense attorneys in Oldham County would have a field day by challenging their evidence handling procedures in future cases. What kind of murder investigation involving blood evidence could you be trusted with, after your Chief Deputy carries marijuana evidence in his pocket to the airport and throws it in the toilet?
