Phillip's website shows support for mumia abu jamal, the cop killer on death row. Of course everything is the white mans fault and it disguists me that I am paying tuition at the same school that allows him to write in it's paper. It isn't like he doesn't write different in the school paper than he does on his website. We all know, or should know by now that UofL just like any other liberal organization will always support someone spouting off about how horrible whitey is, kill cops, kill guardsman and even the President of the United States. Someone please tell me why this punk is not in jail right now. Surely the Secret Service is not going to worry about his racist supporters whining about him being locked up for his remarks. If they defend mumia, this should not be any surprise at all. Don't you guys that are already cops on here have the right to arrest him and hold him for the Secret Service?

Someone who actually understands how the system is supposed to work! I suspect Gov. Blanco is like most governors, not interested in emergency management issues until the bad thing happens, and then wants to look for people to blame. I daresay she never had "time" to even play in an emergency exercise - has Abramson ever done so, for that matter? Or have they always pushed it off on someone else. Guess what, elected officials, this is first and foremost your responsibility, not the photo ops, not building parks, those are extras - protecting your constituency is YOUR responsibility.

I knew that too much water and the levee would go, and NO would be underwater. I knew that many folks would not evacuate, or evacuate at the last moment, that's just human nature. I'm not a genius, but I knew that, it's just common sense. (Oh wait, these are elected officials - scratch that ....) Most EM personnel down there have been trying to bang this drum for years, they can't make it happen on their own, after all. Now they are being blamed for not fixing something that their elected officials preferred to ignore. (And as for FEMA, it isn't like they've got a stockpile of dehydrated federal responders, ready to just "add water and go." Those federal responders, the DMATs, VMATs, DMORTs, etc. are actually local responders who have to leave their homes, what they are doing, their "regular jobs," and go help for an extended period of time. After 9/11, many of their regular employers said, wait a minute, you never told me you'd be called up so often, I'm not going to let you go now. And there are very few job protections for volunteers under those circumstances - although Kentucky actually DOES have a little protection, at least.
