RE: The cost taxpayers bear to hold officers accountable
Thus far we've had a PIU investigation of the actual child molesters. There's also a rumored FBI investigation that never even got to a grand jury calling witnesses after 18 months. Anyone familiar with how they do things knows that means they've gotten nowhere. They Mayor hired this falsely advertised outside counsel to help figure out what the city's liability is before the civil trials get underway. That's what Kerry Harvey does for a living now, not true internal affairs investigations.
What we haven't had is a genuine independent investigation of the Mayor's office or LMPD command for potential state law violations. Wonderboy Andy Beshear isn't capable of doing so because of his numerous conflicts of interest tied to his planned campaign for governor. He's too afraid of losing votes, campaign money and political support if he investigates.
Governor Bevin and Commissioner Sanders, it's in your lap now. You can ignore it and watch respect for the rule of law diminish even further or you can uphold the responsibilities of your office.
