That's partially true. Not everyone has the part of common sense that we call the survival instinct or the ability to improvise. Some would likely try to move from the cover of their engine block to a door firing position that can be easily shot through by many types of handgun bullets. LMPD Training gives officers just enough training to get themselves killed if they ever run up against a committed, disciplined and trained gunman.

In this day and age of terrorism and maniac gunmen, every officer should be put through about 4 weeks of tactical shooting training and certification every year. The departments are all too cheap to hire enough officers so they can take people off the street to keep them trained up to where they need to be. This failure to train contributes to many unnecessary officer deaths each year.
