Because his qualifications are top notch. He's also bring up some very good points about making the sheriffs office a functioning department. And no a good ole boy club of paper pushing deputies.

Neither of the two Republicans have done much campaigning and should both hire someone to write their speeches, make Youtube videos and do a social media campaign. The lack of campaigning is exactly why Louisville's Democrat political machine beats Republicans almost every time. This is what I found online about them.

Robert Jones: When I am elected Jefferson County Sheriff, I will bring greater professionalism and greater sense of pride back to the Sheriff's Office. We will equip and prepare all deputies at the highest standard of training and equipment possible. This would ensure that every deputy would be able to function in all duties required at the Sheriff's Office. I, along with my team, will strive to attract and retain the best people for each position in the Sheriff's Office. Year after year the current JCSO leadership has not given the current deputies a raise. As your next Sheriff this will no longer happen! I will put my deputies above myself and make sure they receive the pay and benefits they deserve. Better pay and benefits attracts, as well as retains qualified and professional people. To achieve better pay for the deputies, current policies and practices must be overhauled. Better employees equals greater service to the community! As sheriff I will offer more transparency and open lines of communication between my office, the community and the Sheriff's Office employees via social media, email, and the department website. Right now the current leadership at JCSO has no viable line of communication with it's own deputies. I will end the practice of "secrecy." As your next Jefferson County Sheriff, I will bring positive change and a new direction to the Sheriff's Office.

Harry Kozak: I am qualified for the office of Sheriff of Jefferson County by my extensive experience and education. My integrity and commitment to public service will be my guiding principles in serving the citizens of Jefferson County. Elect me and you will get a Sheriff who is responsive to the needs of this community. I will demand that my employees serve the public with respect and honesty. The time when the Sheriff's office downplays a sexual harassment allegation by failing to investigate a complaint on grounds that the person complaining is not credible is over. Racism, excessive force, and sexual harassment will not be tolerated in any employee. All complaints of misconduct by any deputy from citizens of this County will be investigated fully.

A little more from Harry Kozak's website

"I am not a member of the Fraternal Order of Police or any police union. My loyalty will lie first with the needs of this community. I believe that the deputy sheriffs who serve this community are underpaid compare to the officers on the Louisville Metro Police Department even though they have completed the same training and have the same qualifications. The Sheriff of Jefferson County collects taxes but has no ability to raise taxes. I believe I that I can make the salaries of my employees more competitive by better management of resources."
