The only real threat is saying you can be fired for striking. The reality today is there aren't enough qualified people to be teachers or police. Few people are banging down the door to make $40,000 to $50,000 doing a dangerous job wearing a camera your whole shift and being called racist by the community you work in. New police lost their pension a few years ago.

If they fired everyone, then there would be a complete breakdown of the system. It won't happen anytime soon, but wait until the majority of police are the pensionless new people. They will eventually start to demand higher salaries and strikes will happen.

When I stopped working 8 years ago, people called me a slug and said I was lazy. I have never been lazy! Never! I just saw what was happening and I knew these days were coming. Now it seems nobody really works. I'm not encouraging anyone to have a bad work attitude but I feel so redeemed now. When officers are getting disciplined for occasionally missing court and not being able to defend themselves in a verbal assault, I could see the writing on the wall.
