Drunk driver who killed LMPD Detective and a Lexington man sentenced to prison

That's impossible because of the existence of Majors on LMPD. If they don't kow-tow to city hall, they get demoted and instantly lose $20,000 per year. That's a powerful incentive to do the wrong thing. Back when there were Captains and city hall wanted to play stupid games, the worst they could do is move them around like musical chairs. Everybody got paid the same.

The answer is simple. The metro council should pass an ordinance banning all political ranks below Lt Col and require merit status for everything else.
