If Conrad's forced out under Fischer, then one of the other command staff who's had nothing to do with the explorers will get the job. That's not likely, because the Chief is the only firewall between the Mayor and the scandal. There are only a few possibilities and none of them put Fischer in a positive light.

1. Mayor was told and lied on the stand

2. The deputy mayor was told and never told the Mayor and lied on the stand about the chief briefing her

3. The chief never told her and lied on the stand. Fischer and all his deputies were in the dark. Fischer therefore appears too busy with the more frivolous parts of his job rather than running the city.

4. The Mayor and deputy mayor were told, don't remember the time the chief told them officers were molesting kids, or that members of the department covered it up.

Any of those possibilities is enough to tip the election by 10 points and he barely beat Hal Heiner when his record was still unblemished. It doesn't matter if he replaces Conrad or not. I expect he'll keep Conrad and use the Clintonian "deny everything" strategy. This will allow Leet to wipe the floor with his political career in November.

$200,000 per year will allow her to offer more pay than many other larger cities. It may be a command officer from a well run department in a Republican-run city like San Diego, Jacksonville, Fort Worth, El Paso, or Oklahoma City. She should learn a lesson from the last 2 chiefs that it does not work out well when you hire in someone who's only been a chief in a much smaller city. That's not enough experience to run LMPD successfully. A long record of acting with integrity and proven SUCCESSFUL experience at reducing major crime as Chief should be the top 2 job requirements. Hiring political types gets you what we've already had and they promote their own kind across the board. Political types are horribly incompetent cops for the most part, with a few rare exceptions.
