As sad as this is, it's probably true. I'd rather the next mayor just look for the best chief he/she can find (regardless of race). Someone that isn't afraid to aggressively pursue criminals, and backs the officers (specifically against baseless attacks claiming racism). I don't think that chief being black will do anything to silence the loud and ridiculous minority that screams racism no matter what.
