It won't make a difference. The same people will apply and run the jail. Not many even want to be LMPD for $20 per hour. Far fewer want to be corrections for less than that. It's a dangerous nasty job with worse pay and benefits than the competition

JCSO hires ex-police for easy court guard positions and a handful of people serving papers. The deputies would a all quit if you put them in the jail.

"Clark County, Indiana (WDRB) - A shoplifter who repeatedly struck an off-duty officer in the head with his baton was shot by the officer and pronounced dead at the hospital."

That's how the story would have read if it happened across the river or in Louisville prior to 2003. Newbies may not be taught this anymore, but hitting someone in the head with a baton is called "deadly force" and justification for use of deadly force in self-defense. You DO NOT have to wait until they deliver a fatal blow to fire a round at them.

There are certainly some questionable shootings around here involving unarmed suspects, but this is very clear cut. She is lucky to be alive just like the officer, who probably has CTE brain damage like the NFL players now.

Taking over the jail

When John Aubrey won his first election the subject of him taking over the jail was brought up by the council of all 8 F.O.P. Lodges. His response " Why in the world would I want that headache"... I also would like to know which county in Kentucky does the Sheriff run the jail..
