21-hour days and $320,000 of overtime highlight 'shocking' extra pay to 7 LMPD officers |

Back when LPD homicide existed, the evening news would say "witnesses saw a black male in his teens about 6 foot tall with a thin build wearing an orange hoodie leaving the scene at 2:15PM" and they'd put up a phone number. Now if got caught leaking that description out, you'd get transferred to patrol. PIO tells the media nothing. References to race are forbidden.
Wet-behind-the-ears people exclusively under the last 2 unenlightened administrations have questioned why you'd put that kind of description out. They assume nobody saw the suspect and it's not worth being called racist by some full-time activist professor the Mayor knows well. They fail to understand that there is almost always someone who saw that suspect either shortly before or shortly after they did the murder. There is no invisible man cloak at Walmart. If those witnesses never know who they saw, then they have no ability to step forward. They have nothing to go on. Information sharing is a 2-way street.
