21-hour days and $320,000 of overtime highlight 'shocking' extra pay to 7 LMPD officers

$1 million pays for 10 new officers pay, retirement and benefits. $10 million in overtime would be the same cost as having 100 more officers on the street. Despite that, they deny the need for more officers exists.

Don't let anyone pretend that most people working 19 hours in day are anything more than warm bodies sucking payroll away. If they want to just get paid to stay awake then they should go do some off-duty security instead.

That OT money would be far better spent on getting some additional new officers on the street. There's a lot of overpaid deadwood on this department.
