New LMPD policy: No working with immigration officials to enforce federal laws |
RE: New LMPD policy: No working with immigration officials to...
It began under Come, whose claim to fame was putting menace to society Martha Stewart behind bars. He came from the same SDNY white collar clown car as this prosecutor and Lynch did. They love a high profile white collar nothingburger, but failed to put a single person from Chase, Bear Stearns, Citi, Bank of America, HBSC or others involved in mortgage fraud and organized crime money laundering. They did manage to squeeze a little money out of thm through non-prosecution agreements before dozens of their attorneys went to work for various bank law firms. If you run with those folks, prepare to be embarrassed by it.

Even if the allegations are all true, there's probably no way for them to get a conviction unless a person directly employed by the university accepted a bribe. There's been no mention of anyone directly employed by U of L accepting bribes like at the colleges where someone was indicted.
There's never been a conviction from someone making a payment to a college sports recruit. U of L itself doesn't control the basketball team. It's entirely controlled by a separate corporation, the U of L Athletic Association Inc, which does not accept federal money. The association pays the coaches' salaries and certifies player eligibility to the NCAA. They could have Pitino on tape saying he paid a player, and it wouldn't be enough to get a conviction except possibly for conspiracy to evade income taxes. They'd also have to charge the players in that kind of case. Few juries in America would buy any of this, but they will probably all get job offers from the NCAA when they retire. That assumes the NCAA still exists then.
