In Kentucky, cities of the second class and above are required by statute to have their own municipal police force. Being taken over by the County Sheriff is not even an option that can legally become a reality.

J-town is smaller than an LMPD division so they can't hire more than a handful of people from LMPD. Their new people are still on the same s---ty retirement system as new people at LMPD. The small bump in pay you get from working there doesn't make up for the bad retirement. The better option is to go across the river where they're still offering a real retirement.

The rest of Kentucky isn't doing that much better than Louisville. This state is being overrun by cheap highly dangerous drugs coming in from Mexico, China and Afghanistan, with little opposition from law enforcement here. It's a good thing Trump is about to clean house. The new Trump appointees can at least lower the white flags flying over the federal buildings the last 8 years.
