Just as Conrad disbanded the airport unit at one of the two biggest U.S. airport hubs for synthetic drug smuggling from Asia into America, past administrations also disbanded inconvenient units that offended them.

"On Feb. 19, Commonwealth Attorney Edwin A. Sohroering Jr, announced that he was hiring the former assistant police chief, Priest M. Fry, as a dollara‐year assistant to fill the investigative gap left when Mayor Burke abruptly abolished the vice squad last Dec. 28.
While Mayor Frank W. Burke has defended the reputation of the city, hardly any citizens are denying that prostitutes solicit openly on main streets or that bookmaking joints abound. A 15‐minute drive during racing hours or after dark will satisfy any curiosity.
Many citizens may have casually accepted these vices as the way of the world, at least until Feb. 8 and 9, when WHAS‐TV presented two programs entitled "Louisville: Open City?"
