His buddy in community services isn't a Major anymore. The Chief should demote himself too for the same exact reason.

The Metro Council should remove Conrad from office based on his mishandling of the criminal allegations against Betts and his ineffective leadership contributing to a 200% increase in homicides since 2012. The Mayor should also be held responsible for failing to intervene to ensure the safety of the people of Louisville.

KRS 67C.101 A consolidated local government shall have all powers and privileges that cities of the first class and their counties, including but not limited to those powers granted to cities of the first class and their counties under their respective home rule powers.

KRS 83.660 Executive and ministerial officers of the city may be removed by the board of aldermen, sitting as a court, under oath, upon charges preferred by any two (2) members of the board of aldermen.

Those on the council who want to defend this Chief will find out how bad that idea is during the next election.

Just let us police and tell the liberals to pound sand.. if the department would back the officers we would. Feelings of the liberals will get hurt but to stop the shootings we will have to police heavy handed. Stop everyone and if they have a legit reason to be out then can continue on there way if not well find out what they are doing.

It must be very embarrassing to all those responsible for enforcing drug laws in Louisville that a reporter caught the public drug bazaars you allow to exist on camera. Lt Hibbs did the best he could to put lipstick on the pig. Patrol always gets stuck with the blame for the secret squirrels not doing their jobs.

Inside the Parkway: Drugs, DEATH and DOOM

http://www.wave3.com/story/35509600/inside-the-parkway-drugs-death-doom

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Wearing his backpack, a boy was dressed for school but not in school because his mom was dragging him around Parkway Place housing complex buying drugs. Head in his hands, he waited patiently. Around him was a booming business, walk-up or drive-through, counting and selling white rocks in baggies every day starting before 9 a.m. as the crowds and thick stacks of cash grew fat and fast.

Hey Chief Conrad, how many kids have been molested by LMPD officers since you shut down the Betts investigation 3 years ago? If only you'd let that investigation go forward, a few kids might not have been victimized. Its a good thing he didn't last long enough at Audubon Park Police to do it again, since you didn't bother to warn them before he was hired.

Personally I would like to thank the chief for getting angry at his press conference. He reminded us that he "appoints" the majors. This reminds us there is no merit to their having achieved these positions. In fact it helps remind us that to become a sergeant you take a test. To become a lieutenant you take another test. At no time in this process is their competence as a police office taken into consideration. And once promoted they are damn near impossible to demote and the incompetence is rewarded with jobs they can be hidden in. But at-least some merit in sergeants and lieutenants had to take a test.

So chief, thank you, for allowing the media to see that their is no merit in the promotions to the rank of major.

Bevin may be surprised someone wants him to do more than do a photo op with some ministers, after watching Fischer compassion-talk his way out of stopping crime. Instead of holding vigils, the self-appointed community spokesmen should be screaming from the top of their lungs at city hall and the Mayor's office. They always show up to protest police shootings but not the 99.9% of shootings by criminals.

Chicago figured out they had to increase the number of police and arrest gang members to reduce homicides. This isn't rocket science, people.

Police Raids on Chicago Gangs Stem Holiday Weekend Violence: City tries to get the most dangerous people off the street during the long weekend

CHICAGO--A concerted effort here to reduce violent crime during the Memorial Day weekend appears to have paid off. Increased police presence across the nation's third-largest city and raids targeting gangs helped drive a reduction in violent crime, authorities said, with less than half the number of people shot than during the holiday weekend last year. As of 2 p.m. Monday, 27 people had been shot in 21 incidents since Friday evening, compared with 53 people shot in 35 incidents over the same period last year. Speaking on Friday, Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said the main difference is seeing police on the streets. About 1,300 additional officers have been deployed to patrol over this long weekend, compared with 880 in 2016.

Watching the press conference today revealed once again some gaping holes at LMPD. Who's in charge of gang intel at LMPD? Anyone? You can't get info on gang homicides the same way as lone offender homicides. The people in the gang infested neighborhoods believe the police are corrupt, or if not, that they'll be revealed through the court system or sheer incompetence. They're probably correct too. Odds are that out of 1200 people, at least 1 or 2 officers are working for the other side. The justice system will rat them out under normal rules of evidence. You either provide them total anonymity with a trusted handler, or continue begging on TV.

If the FBI isn't up to the job of training you, then call the next Director of the FBI and tell them so.

Take it from me, a life-long west end resident. I can explain it to LMPD why no one speaks up whenever there is a murder. So here it is. I go to work everyday, keep up my lawn on 42nd Street, pay my bills, try to keep gas in the 11 year old Nissan. I witness a murder and tell what I see to the police. Now, my life is disrupted. I have to go to endless court dates for some fool who was probably murdered because he was out there into criminal behavior in the first place. So let's say I do cooperate and he is convicted. Big deal! He'll be out in about 3 years and guess who he will remember. Nobody does anytime in jail. It should not be hard to figure out why no one cooperates. It's not to punish LMPD, it's just that everybody knows there are no consequences for the person you are "snitching" on. So guess what I'll continue living the best life I know how and let those who fall prey to the street pay their own way!!!

If anyone needs any hard proof that the department is short staffed and the Chief is full of s--t about that, look at all the overtime for this year. There are hundreds of people at LMPD earning 50% to 200% of their salary from O.T. Paying out O.T. in these amounts instead of hiring additional officers, while telling the Metro Council you don't need additional officers, is technically called "lying your @ss off" With all the people wanting to cash out at 20 years, you will of course hear no complaints from the beneficiaries of this O.T.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Six members of Louisville Metro Council want to hear from the public on their opinions of LMPD. Barbara Shanklin, Mary Woolridge, Barbara Sexton Smith, Jessica Green, Cheri Bryant Hamilton and David James invite anyone interested to a special community meeting on Monday to give input on the "current state of the Louisville Metro Police Department." "Citizens are angry and frustrated over the recent command changes at LMPD, especially as we head into summer with violent crime continuing to escalate," Green said in a news release. The meeting will be held at Cole's Place at 2928 W. Volunteer cop takes down Mexican drug cartel operation. He should give a class to law enforcement in Louisville, especially the ignorant troll on this site who makes jokes about cartels being here. There's a huge difference between having a job title and actually doing the job well.

FARGO, N.D. - After more than 70 convictions, North Dakota authorities say they've largely dismantled a violent Mexican drug cartel in an investigation that drew in hundreds of agents over a dozen years. But no investigator may have had more to do with their success, they say, than one workaholic lawyer-turned lawman who did almost all his work for free. Brad Berg helped connect a drug dealer from Mexico who set up shop in North Dakota to the Arelleno Felix cartel and several of the organization's key players. Now that the case is mostly closed, except for one accused hit man fighting extradition to the U.S., Berg is winning praise from his peers in the wake of documents recently being unsealed in the case.

Berg undertook much of the arduous research in the massive drug conspiracy being tried in federal court in North Dakota. He spent weeks at a time in southern California, working with drug agents there, interviewing suspects and examining gruesome crime scenes. He learned Spanish and read Mexican newspapers on a daily basis. One of the big breaks in the case came when Berg fingered a leading cartel member through his code name. "He was telling us stuff we didn't know. He opened doors for us in our case and led us to a new group of people," Duncan said. "We couldn't believe how organized he was. He had access to all the information, all the reports. He had spreadsheets. He had instant credibility." Berg worked for free from the time he began his law enforcement career in 1995 until his retirement in 2013. Berg estimated that he donated more than 25,000 hours to drug enforcement that would likely equal $1 million in pay and benefits.

The Chief must have figured out nobody at LMPD or nearby agencies has the first clue about gang enforcement, so he's hiring somebody to come up with a plan. Its a step in the right direction. Louisville's west end has at least as much gang activity as most big cities in America. Homicide will never catch most of the shooters until LMPD gets a handle on the gangs. This instructional video will get you started.
