Shively is really coming up I think. About 10 years ago Shively wasn't considered a good move but the image of Shively as an agency has improved. UofL is also good. St . Matthews is even better.

It depends if you are retiring or are younger and wanting a different kind of department. Retirees can go to JCSO or any of the small depts having LMPD retirees already with minimal problems. I would avoid the ones who have no ex-LMPD there and the ones as political as LMPD has become recently. If I had 15-25 years left, I would go to another city like Indy or Cincinnati offering much better pay and benefits unless you really love east end DUI stops and burglar alarms. They have some well known dens of dope peddling and prostitution out east but aren't pursuing it enough to make it an interesting place to work. Neither is LMPD anymore though.

If you're looking for something that won't bore you to tears and expose you to dumber politics than here, you'd be happier in Shively than St. Matthews, Anchorage, J-Town, or Prospect. The east side suburbs are full of connected pretentious snobs who know somebody and will get you counseled by your supervisor if you mess with them for something less than domestic violence.
