I'd take it a step further. Drop the military style academy garbage for anyone who's DOCJT or POST certified from another state and make it in-service training instead. Laterals from Kentucky should be sworn in as officers on their date of hire and given blocks of in-service training each month as time permits covering the LMPD-unique topics in the academy they actually need.
