The old LPD had its share of idiots, but so does LMPD. They biggest difference the public actually notices is that LPD kept a lid on violence and took action to quell the crack epidemic crime. On the other hand, LMPD's passivity let the heroin war violent crime fester until the feds stepped in. LMPD may be more policy-compliant and avoid confrontations with felons more often, but it doesn't stop crime like the old departments. The bottom line matters most to the public except for a handful of loudmouth
