The old LPD had its share of idiots, but so does LMPD. They biggest difference the public actually notices is that LPD kept a lid on violence and took action to quell the crack epidemic crime. On the other hand, LMPD's passivity let the heroin war violent crime fester until the feds stepped in. LMPD may be more policy-compliant and avoid confrontations with felons more often, but it doesn't stop crime like the old departments. The bottom line matters most to the public except for a handful of loudmouth leftists and activists.

collage does not make you a good police officer, I know many officers that only had a high school diploma and are / were very good officers. heavy handed at times but the crime rate was down unlike today's liberal way of policing. just my 2cents. be safe and make it home every day
