The people of Louisville were lucky to have gotten who they did at LMPD, LFD and EMS. Pay hasn't kept up with inflation, medical insurance costs much more and retirement has been virtually eliminated. Recruits today make about 20% less after inflation than recruits did on the old JCPD and LPD. Instead of looking forward to a 20 year retirement at half-pay, they get a 401k-style retirement with fewer benefits than most private sector jobs. If you don't like the quality of officers, then blame yourself and this community for voting in people who don't prioritize public safety.
