Are you assuming drug arrests don't deter violent crime? Many of the shootings are drug related. When you take 40 street detectives off the street, you reduce arrests and the people they don't arrest end up committing violent crimes. The only proven way to reduce violent crime is to remove violent felons from the streets and put them in prison for long stretches. All this Obamanista "we just need to talk nice to them" ******** from downtown has failed to protect this city. Letting gang members kill each other in the west end eventually leads to the same people killing good people, in the west end and elsewhere, like the kids who've been killed. We will see which direction the homicide rate goes as a result of this misconceived plan. Conrad and everyone else in charge of law enforcement agencies in this county better be prepared to find a new job, because the people are getting fed up.
