We really need to do more of this, and promote ourselves more. I see my fellow officers do heroic things all the time. I see acts of compassion and charity that goes unnoticed...While I understand the mentality of you don't need recognition for doing your job, we are in a media war now. We also need to go to the media, when somebody files a bogus complaint on officer, and show what we are up against. Heck, You can have 100 arrests and not one "that a boy"...miss one of those court days, and you're getting a reprimand, or suspension day. When they body-cams come, the PIO office needs to release lots of video of citizens acting poorly, heroic actions of police officers, and times of great restraint of officers. If you serve it up to media they will show it...

At the awards banquet the Chief said 64 people retired in 2014. That seems like a lot for a 1150 officer dept.
