Attorneys have always dug for dirt on officers and other witnesses in jury trials. They even hire PI's sometimes. The officers who came to work late will probably not have a problem as much as the ones lying in investigations or abusing the public. Its a little more public thanks to the existence of an actual list and the news media, but its the same old tactics in court and isn't really new.
