Police union takes on councilwoman over column

Is the department still sure about that "no serious gang problem" view? It certainly sounds like not everyone is equally convinced the minimalist approach is working. Its very sad a child died to make that as obvious as it is right now. Do the job right or else let somebody else take over. The liberal judges and their short sentences for certainly don't help the situation either. You can't police the west end like its a low crime picket fence suburb in the next county.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Louisville Metro Police are investigating after a baby was shot and killed in what they called an apparent drive-by. The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday on South 37th Street. The baby and her mother were shot outside a home. The baby was rushed to Kosair Children's Hospital, where she died a short time later. Her mother is recovering at University of Louisville Hospital. "It was like six guys, they said six guys come around this corner. One of them had a white T-shirt on and then there was some more of them. And said they came up there, and the case shells is up on my daughter's porch, (and they started) shooting," "They need to stop letting these hoodlums out, these crack-head, dope-head people out," She wants to see more police officers patrolling the streets. "Let's do something about it; let's get the job done. We need more police officers," The woman's mother said she was shot in the stomach.
