We have always been understaffed. We are currently understaffed, and we will continue to be understaffed. Accept it and take care of one another as best you can. Worry about the officer next to you and not about the things we cannot change. You will be less stressed and better for it.

I hate hearing politicians saying we can't arrest our way out of this situation. I disagree but since the jail only does one booking at a time, THEY 1000000% DISCOURAGE ARREST..... but we can arrest our way out if they would keep the career criminals locked up.

THE REAL PROBLEM

June 12th, 2014 @ 10:01AM (10 years ago)

The real problem here is Jefferson County hates to prosecute anything and the thugs know they will not face any real consequences here. The courts and judges make it all a big joke.

Grand jury: Charges will not go forward against 4 men accused of downtown violence

The so-called "misidentified four" waited outside the courtroom before Tuesday's ruling.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A grand jury has decided that charges will not go forward in the case against four young men who were accused of carrying out violent attacks in downtown Louisville in March.

Judge McKay Chauvin read the grand jury's decision of no true bill Tuesday afternoon. No true bill means there was not enough evidence to proceed with a case.

Craig Dean, 20, Shaquazz Allen, 18, Jerron Bush, 21, and Tyrone Booker, 19, were accused of robbing a woman at a bus stop. Booker and Allen also were accused of beating a woman during a wave of mob violence that began at Waterfront Park on the night of March 22.

The prosecutor said the case had some holes in and that could not result in convictions.

The case remains open and under investigation.

Two words; Cha.Ching

Is it true that they are talking about 8 hour shifts for mid-watch so there will be more available officers? If that is true morale will plummet! 10 hour shifts are the only thing that make mid-watch bearable! 3 or 4 days off every week is the trade off for working those crappy hours. 6 days working in a row...you might not actually see your kids for weeks during school!!! I hope that just talk or rumors!

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two Louisville Metro Police officers are facing charges in connection with an incident that occurred while they were off duty.

According to court documents, Benjamin Lunte and Amanda Frederick are accused of assaulting two people at an Edmundson County, Ky. home.

Frederick was arrested June 25 when she appeared in court for a petition of an emergency protective order against one of the victims. According to the petition, Frederick listed the relationship with one of the victims as "unmarried formerly or currently living together."

Lunte was arrested June 26 when he turned himself into authorities.

Both were released from jail on their own recognizance and both are charged with assault, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.

LMPD public information officer Alicia Smiley said an integrity investigation is underway and both officers were placed on paid administrative leave.
