I disagree about merger. I didn’t want it either, but looking back it was needed. Too much duplication of duties in government in general before merger. If we hadn’t merged Louisville would be like Detroit is now – bankrupt because they have no tax base. A bankrupt Louisville would have also devastated Jefferson County. Didn’t like it, but it was needed. Jerry was horrible and still is as our Lt. Governor. But, he didn’t ruin the departments. I don’t think any Mayor really has the influence
