Too many people assume just because a police officer is fired, they deserve to be fired. What people seem to forget is discipline is at the discretion of the police chief. That means the chief is the judge and any punishment the chief dishes out is based on the chief's personal opinion. It does not mean the chief is always right, it just means he has the power to do whatever he wants. It is not a democracy when it comes to punishment. Thank God for courts.

Pearson's past has finally caught up with him. If you have been on long enough you know what i'm talking about. You can skate the system so long then it will crash down on you. I figure it's coming down on Pearson, hard.

-Lt. Pearson was the lead investigator on one of Louisville's largest drug busts that happened back in November.-

Wasn't that a detectives case? How is he claiming to be one of the lead case officers if he was only present at the end of the case? I smell a distruth.

As long as I can remember black officers who worked in narcotics have been plagued with problems. I always kind of looked at it as a coincident until a good friend of mine showed me a handwritten outline that he made. I think subconciously black officers who work in sensitive units like narcotics will always be looked at with a suspicious eye. In other words, they don't wont you there.

It seems the Chief has axes to grind & there are officers he doesn't like. I'm sure it enrages him to have his own guys shine the light on a botched investigation, especially when the head of KSP is one of his BFF's. Regardless of who doesn't like Rich or what the Chief thinks he's done or not done in distant years, these termination charges are comical compared to what other officers have done & continue to work for LMPD. I'm afraid his plan of finding a reason to fire him may have backfired; watch as they backpedal now & try to substantiate hollow claims. I hope he sues their a$$es for everything he can & wins. It doesn't matter if you like this guy or not; right is on his side.

Is he fired now? Or still driving that nice new explorer?

Here is what people don't understand. The chief can fire anyone he wants to at anytime he has that power under the merit board. You can sue or do anything you want but by the time it goes through all the litigation and appealing it possibly could be 25 years before the final judgement comes in. It can be bogged down in court forever. Yes there has been a few that never got their job back. Look how long it took Lance Hawkins to go through appeals and he still lost. So if the chief wants Pearson gone he will be.

LMPD is facing a problem no one is saying a lot about. The rate of experienced officers retiring has not set off the alarms that it should. I don't think anyone knows why this is happening for sure, but you cannot have an effectively run department with your experienced officers leaving at the rate they are leaving. I don't know if they are leaving as "disgruntled workers" or just moving on to other ventures, but LMPD should at least explore the reasons for this and possibly try to reverse the trend. I am not an officer so I have no stake in it, but I am connected close enough to LMPD to know what I am saying is factual.

There needs to be a booking van 24/7/365. No one wants to drive from the 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th all the time to the jail. A 24/7/365 booking van would MOTIVATE officers fo make more arrest (which the jail doesnt want or city for that matter).LOUISVILLE KY HAS THE MOST ANTIQUATED BOOKING PROCESS/TRANSPORT SYSTEM OF ANY DEPT REMOTELY CLOSE TO IT'S SIZE IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY... ONE AT A TIME....ONE AT A TIME...... ONE AT A TIME. Hahahahahahahahahahahha

The JCSO could run it better and I bet Col. Aubrey would have booking set up bet than one at a time cor decades... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz With all the wasted money in Metro Gov, like the $80,000 a year "safe neighborhoods liaison", to many peeps in mayors officer, on less Col or Major on LMPD, Shadika Rynolds (sp), Doug Hamilton etc...that would free up cash for a 24/7/365 booking van!
