I completely understand the emotion behind it, but does killing a police dog in the line of duty REALLY count as killing an officer in the line of duty? I'm not necessarily opposed to it, but I could definately see how a jury would have problems convicting someone with any crime other than Cruelty to Animals for such crime. Killing is dog will never be the same as killing a human being.
