have not heard that, but I think that would be the second best Idea next to the new patrol uniforms... The problem is it would have to be voluntary like the patrol uniform. It would cost the city wayyyyyyyyy to much.

It would be more comfortable...the biggest problem is wear and tear on the external carrier "shirt". You still have to wear a regular Class A shirt underneath so you have the correct matching shirt sleeves showing from under the carrier. So now you're talking about wear and tear on essentially two shirts at a time.

LPD tested this idea years ago, and it was determined then that it would be cost prohibitive (to the individual officers) to mandate that style.

Now, given that there's about a dozen "optional" uniforms currently, (which was very much NOT the case years ago when this was tested) I could see it being feasible to make it an option for the individual officers...as long as the initial purchases were made from uniform allowance for those who decided to go that route.

Good, then officers can hide their pot bellies easier.
